Disclaimer: I don't own Charmed and I don't own the song 'my last breath'. It's by Evanescence. the only thing I own is the story. Enjoy!
Hold on to me love,
You know I can’t stay long,
All I wanted to say was I love you
And I’m not afraid.
Can you hear me?
Can you feel me in your arms?
His brown eyes met hers, his filled with love and calm, hers so full with pain and grief that it hurt to look at them too long. He knew and accepted that it was his time, just as he knew that she would never stop fighting and let him go.
“Please,” his voice was a croak. He licked dry lips and tried again. “Please, stop holding on. You know I have to go.”
Holding my last breath,
Safe inside myself,
Are all me thoughts of you,
Sweet raptured light,
It ends here tonight.
Her eyes were wet with unshed tears.
“No,” she whispered fiercely. “I won’t let you die.”
He knew that whatever she did he wouldn’t survive. He didn’t have much longer. He didn’t want to die but he knew he was going to and he had accepted the fact. He wasn’t scared.
I’ll miss the winter,
A world of fragile things,
Look for me in the white forest,
Hiding in a hollow tree.
I know you hear me,
I can taste it in your tears.
She stared into his eyes. He stared back, lovingly as her tears splashed onto his face. She reached down and gently wiped them away.
“Don’t forget me,” he said. “Move on with your life but please don’t forget me.”
“I could never forget you,” she told him. “I love you too much to forget.”
Holding my last breath,
Safe inside myself,
Are all my thoughts of you.
Sweet raptured light,
It ends here tonight.
He squeezed her hand. “Don’t linger with me,” he said. “When I’m gone, move on. Don’t break down, don’t think of me too much.” He knew she wouldn’t cope with losing him. She’d need all the comfort she could get. He knew her sisters would help her through as much as possible, but he hoped she would be all right.
“I don’t want to see you up there with anytime soon, popcorn,” he said, using his special nickname for her.
She smiled a little. “You won’t,” she said. “I’ll get through this.” She knew it would be hard, harder than anything she’d ever done before would, but he wanted to hear that she’d cope.
Closing your eye to disappear,
You pray your dreams will leave you here,
But still you wake and know the truth,
No one’s there.
His eyes began to dim. She knew he was going. She reached out and gently stroked his cheek.
“Please, don’t leave me,” she whispered desperately.
“There’s nothing you can do,” he told her. “Just tell me you love me.” She blinked back her tears.
“I love you,” she said. “I always have and I always will. Nothing can change that, not even death.” He smiled faintly.
“I love you too, he whispered. She leaned down and kissed him for the last time. He looked into her eyes. She smiled as a tear ran down her face and landed on his cheek. He gave her a last smile.
“Love you,” he whispered, before his eyes closed and he quietly slipped away.
Say goodnight,
Don’t be afraid,
Calling me, calling me,
As you fade to black.
