Even though her name is Piper, #1 Piper Fan does not own the characters, so please take notice.
Piper paced around her room. She was waiting for Leo to return, he said he wouldn’t take long, and told her to wait. So she did. It had been over an hour since he left the dinner table. Since he left his wife of six years, since he left his two beautiful children.
Piper soon got tired of waiting and decided to go to bed; she had tucked Melinda and Jack into bed and was getting restless. She changed out of her clothes and changed into her warm flannel Pj’s. She slipped over the covers, turned off the bedside lamp and tried to get at least some sleep.
Meanwhile, while Piper was sleeping, Leo was ‘up there’ talking to the elders.
“What do you mean another Test, we’re married, and you can’t do this!!” Leo yelled.
“You must, your family’s life depends on it.” Leo suddenly had a look of confusion on his face.
“What do you mean my FAMILY?” he roared through the heavens. “It can’t have anything to do with demons, can it? They haven’t been attacked in the past three years. What’s going on?” He panted, almost out of breath from talking to fast.
“It has nothing to do with the charmed ones. It has something to do with your wife.” They waited for him to respond, but he was too attentive. “We can tell that your love for each other is withering away. She’s pulling away. Your never there for her, she’s getting restless.” They said calmly and quietly.
“THAT’S BECAUSE YOU KEEP ME HERE!!” He yelled. “ What do you want me to do? Ill do anything. I just don’t want to lose her. Tell me what to do?” He asked slightly quieter that his last sentence.
“There’s nothing you can do now, its like a test, you have to wait it out. Now, go back home, its almost Ten-o-clock in the morning down there.” They said.
“Oh No, Piper’s gonna be pissed” He muttered to himself.
Leo entered his bedroom, although he didn’t know why. Piper was probably already downstairs making breakfast for the kids. As he made his way out of the bedroom and towards the stairs, he heard the doorbell ring.
He heard Piper’s footsteps against the hardwood floor. He decided to hid on the top step and see who it was.
He saw Piper, answering the door. And when he did he almost fell down the stairs.
“Dan?” He heard Piper question, as she gave him a hug. The very thought of him being in his house boiled his blood.
“Hey Piper, I wont stay long, I just wanted to tell you that I moved back in next door, and maybe we could have dinner sometime?” Dan asked almost too politely.
“I’d love too. Ill call you later, Ok?” She said as she shut the door gently behind him. She didn’t even say I was still here, with her, or that we were married or had kids, Leo thought. Was this the test? To test Piper’s love for me? To see if Dan could win her back? If it was he would fight to the bitter end. Piper was his, and only his. Or so he thought.
Leo didn’t know what to do. He didn’t want to go downstairs too quickly or Piper would know that he was listening by the stairs. So he went back upstairs, just to think.
Piper was utterly shocked. Why was Dan back? It was weird, but in some way. She was glad he was back. And she was glad she agreed to go out to dinner with him. She was actually excited. She thought of what she would wear as she finished feeding the children.
Soon, she heard Leo descend down the stairs. She was so glad he was back. The baby sitter for tonight was busy and now that Leo was home, he could stay with Mel and Jack.
“Hey you,” She said as she wrapped her hands around her husbands neck, looking to see if she was out of the children’s distance, and started to slowly nibble on his earlobe. She knew that that was what Leo liked best. “Can you do me a favor?” She asked in between kisses.
‘Oh No, here it comes,’ Leo thought to himself. “What is it honey?” He asked.
Piper replied all too quickly “Can you watch the kids tonight? I have a thing at the club.” She didn’t even mention he was here, Leo thought.
“Sure” Leo replied. Not letting his jealousy overcome him.
“Thank you” Piper replied with a sigh of relief. “ I love you,” she said as she practically flew up the stairs. Leaving Leo alone downstairs with the children.
It soon came time for Piper to go out. She told Dan that she would meet him at the club, to avoid confrontation with Leo. She was just finishing her makeup when she felt strong-arms wrap around her waist. A feeling she knew all to well. She turned around to look into the eyes of her husband, her soul mate. She never wanted to leave him, but she felt the need to go and see Dan. He was a good friend, and only a good friend, she thought to herself.
“You look beautiful,” Leo said into Piper’s perfect flowing hair.
“Thank you,” was her response. She looked at her watch and quickly kissed Leo lightly on the lips, and walked into the bathroom to get her wedding ring. She had left it there after her shower. Just as she reached the bathroom door, she heard her eldest daughter of four years old screaming for her mom. Saying something about Jack taking her toy.
She quickly settled the controversy with the kids and, realizing how late she was, flew out the door. In her mind, she kept thinking she forgot something, but she didn’t care, she didn’t want to be late.
After Piper left, Leo fed the kids and was now getting them ready for bed. As he walked into to bathroom to clean the mess Mel and Jack probably had made. He was shocked to discover that Piper left her wedding ring near the sink. He becomes furious.
He quickly called Prue, and asked if she could very quickly get to the house so he could go out. Prue was there in less than ten minutes (she only lived about 8 minutes away).
As soon as Prue got to the house, Leo orbed out, with a very stern and angry look on his face. He needed to get to Piper.
Meanwhile, ‘up there’ the Elders were looking down on Leo. Then one of the Elders said. “He’s letting jealousy over-come him, I thought you said that this test would be easy for him?” He had asked.
“I guess it wasn’t as easy as it looked.” Another Elder said. All sat around waiting for what was to come.
Piper and Dan had spent only about twenty minutes at the club talking when Leo suddenly came, almost running through the door.
Piper sprang from her seat towards Leo. “Leo, what are you doing here? Who is with the kids?”
“Don’t worry, Prue is with them.” He said, like it didn’t even matter. “What are you doing here, with him?” He said pointing to Dan who was walking over.
“We were just having dinner! That’s all!” She yelled through her club. Once she noticed that she was yelling and everyone was staring, she motioned her hands so that the whole club would freeze, except Leo. “Now! What is your problem?” That’s when Piper noticed that Dan wasn’t frozen. “Dan?” She asked.
“Nope!” He stated matter-of-factly. Piper took a step away from him, closer to Leo. “Dan loved you. I don’t love you, I am just doing my job.”
“What was your job?” Leo asked. As he said this, the so-called Dan, morphed into a white lighter Leo knew. “What? What are you doing here?” Piper was in utter shock and didn’t say anything.
The white lighter responded, “This was you test. And as much as it hurts me to say it. You failed. See, the test was about jealousy. We made Piper believe that she had her wedding ring on, and made her not say anything about being married.”
“So what does this mean?” Piper finally spoke.
Just then, Leo was suddenly forced to orb out. Piper was confused. “He has to leave for a while,” The white lighter said just before her orbed out as well. Leaving a very distressed Piper in the club. She sunk to the floor and started to cry. She didn’t even notice that her freeze had worn off. When she finally did, she raced to her car, and raced home. She had to find a way to bring Leo back.
Meanwhile, ‘Up there’ Leo was orbed to the Elders. “What do you want? I’m not jealous!” He yelled through the heavens.
“I’m sorry, but it did, and now you must face the consequences.” They said as they left Leo. He tried to orb out but couldn’t. He needed to get to Piper. He didn’t want her last thoughts of him to be jealousy.
As luck would have it, it started to pour the second Piper got out of her Jeep, forcing her to run up towards the manor. Quickly trying to locate her keys, she opened the door, and without taking off her jacket or anything, she ran up the stairs towards the attic.
Prue was in the living room with Pheobe, whom she had called after Leo had left her there to look after Melinda. “What was that?” Pheobe asked.
“I have no idea, but we better get up there.” Prue responded as she got up off the couch.
Piper hadn’t made it to the attic; she broke down crying right outside her bedroom. “Mommy?” She heard, she looked up, her tear stained face looking into her beautiful daughters eyes. “Are you ok mommy?” She asked as she stepped towards her mother. She wanted to know why she was crying.
Piper couldn’t respond to her daughters question, she couldn’t go up to her and say ‘your father was taken away from us because he was jealous’, and as if on cue, she heard a faint “Melinda?” The sound of her oldest sisters voice. Why was she here, Piper asked herself When she looked up again, she noticed that Prue had taken Melinda in to her room and was now coming towards her, with Phoebe in tow.
“What’s wrong honey?” Prue asked, her words were so comforting, so maternal.
“L…Leo, was t….taken away from me because he was jealous of Dan.” She said between sobs.
Prue, trying to be brave for her sister, trying to be in control for her sister, suggested that they go up to the attic to see what they could find. They all agreed and helped Piper to her feet.
Prue, Phoebe, and Piper had been around the Book Of Shadows for over an hour looking for anything to do with Whitelighters and then being taken away when they got jealous, but couldn’t find anything. “THIS IS USELESS” Piper yelled out as she slammed the book down.
As soon as she did, she saw the pages move, like someone was flipping trough them really really fast, the three sisters gathered around the book and looked at the page it stopped at. To Call A Whitelighter. Without saying anything else, the sisters read the spell together. As they read the spell, a whirlwind appeared right in front of them. Waiting for Leo, Piper closed her eyes, when she opened them again, she didn’t see Leo, but the guy that had turned into Dan to take Leo in the first place.
“What the HELL are you doing here?” Piper said on the verge of breaking down, not seeing her husband standing in front of her.
“My name is Johnothan, and I am assigned to be your new whitelighter.”
“What do you mean, our new WHITELIGHTER!?!” Piper yelled.
“Well…” replied Jonathan. “Leo failed a huge test in your marriage. We never thought that he would be jealous.”
Prue spoke up after not saying anything “I thought that Piper and Leo only had these tests just for them to be engaged?”
“True, but between you and I, the elders can never make up their minds” He spoke as he walked over to the Book Of Shadows and started to skim through it.
Piper had now sat down on the couch in the attic, she put her head in her hands and started mumbling to herself “this is all my fault” over and over again. Jonathan looked over, but continued looking through the book. Prue and Pheobe went over to now comfort a sobbing Piper.
“Mommy?” Piper raised her tear stained face. It was Melinda. Her Daughter. Leo’s daughter. “Why are you crying?” She asked as she approached her mother “who is that man with the book?” She asked. Melinda was always full of questions. “Where’s Daddy!?”
Piper placed her head back into her hands and wept softly. She wanted this all to go away. She wanted Leo to come back and Jonathan to go away! The next thing she felt were small arms stretching around her waist and a small head on her shoulder. She looked up again and saw Melinda. Looking into her eyes, trying to read them. “Don’t cry mommy.” She said, giving Piper a small kiss on the cheek and returning her head onto her mothers shoulder. “It makes me sad when you’re sad. Ill get Daddy, he always makes you happy.” She got off the couch and ran to the attic door, only to be stopped my her aunt Prue, who picked her up and balanced her on her hip. Melinda’s last comment made Piper cry harder. She wanted Leo, she needed Leo. Melinda was right, he always made her happy.
Prue knew that Piper didn’t know what to say to Melinda. “Melinda sweetie, Daddy had to leave for a while. Do you understand honey?” She asked, looking at her little niece in her arms. Melinda nodded. Piper had stopped crying and reached out her arms to Melinda. Prue let her go and Melinda ran back to her mother, only to be stopped short by Jonathan, who knelt down blocking her path to her mother. This made everyone look up at him.
“What your aunt meant Melinda is that Leo did a bad thing and has to be punished, me might not be back for a very, very long time. Do you understand that?” He asked. Piper, being the aggressive one that she was when protecting her daughter pushed Jonathan to the ground and approached her daughter and took her in her arms. Melinda was now crying. Piper smoothed her hair that was so much like hers.
“I want DADDY NOW!” She screamed.
“I know sweetie, you’ll see him soon.” Piper said trying to calm her daughter down.
“How can you say that, he will be gone for a long time and you know that? Why lie to the child?” Jonathan spoke from his position on the wall. Pheobe, who had been quiet during all of this, was now down right pissed off. She approached their so-called whitelighter and kicked him. Hard. In the groin, causing him to double over in pain. Melinda was still screaming for her father.
Melinda concentrated hard on her father. Almost too hard, because the next thing she knew, she felt that strange glow, and then she saw what was happening. She was orbing. She had never orbed before. She closed her eyes as the bright lights blinded her. When she opened them again, she was in a room of white.
Leo sat in his “whitelighter” room and thought of his family. Piper, Melinda, and Jack. God he hoped Piper wasn’t angry with him. Just then, he was pulled out of his thought when a familiar sound entered his ear. Orbing. Who would be orbing in here. He looked over to see who it was. It was Melinda, his four year-old daughter Melinda. ‘she can orb?’ he thought. Melinda’s face was tear stained. She was confused and disoriented. Once she saw her father, she ran to him, hugged him hard and long as she started to cry.
“Melinda, sweetheart. What are you doing here?” he said as he set her down in front of him “How did you get here.”
Melinda started to sniffle “Well, mommy was crying because you were gone, so I thought about you really really hard and here I am.” She said matter-of-factly.
‘Oh God’ Leo thought. ‘Piper was crying.’ Just then he was interrupted by one of the Elders that came into his room.
“What is she doing here Wyatt?” He asked.
Melinda cowered behind her father. Leo spoke “She came here by accident. She is only four.”
“Well, make her go back, or one of the whitelighters will have to take her.” He said.
Leo needed a plan, maybe he could see Piper because of Melinda. “Please.” He started “Let me take her back. She doesn’t know how to orb and she will get scared if she goes with someone else. Please just give me ten minutes with my family?” He asked, pleading with his eyes. He could tell that the Elder was thinking it over. After what seemed like forever to Leo he simply nodded his head and waved his hand, giving Leo back his orbing powers. He quickly took hold of Melinda’s hand and orbed home.
Piper was furious at Jonathan for saying that to Melinda. He was now in the corner of the attic, rubbing his groin where Pheobe had kicked him. Piper was pacing around the room at an alarming rate when she came head on to something. Leo. She had bumped right into him. “Leo?” She asked, tears filling her eyes. Leo let go of Melinda’s hand and walked to his wife. Prue knew that they needed to talk alone so she took hold of Melinda’s hand and started to lead her downstairs.
“Lets go see what your brother is doing ok Melly?” Prue said as Pheobe kicked their “NEW” Whitelighter down the attic stairs.
Leo was now holding Piper, not wanting to let her go. Piper doing the same thing. “So they said you could come back?” she asked. Leo stepped back, looking into her eyes.
“No” he started “They just let me bring Melinda back.”
Tears were now pouring out of Piper’s eyes. “But….I..I..need y..you.” She sobbed as Leo took hold of her again and led her to the couch. Once she regained the strength to speak she did. “How long do you have to leave for?” She asked, on the verge of crying again.
“I honestly don’t know, not long I hope.” He said. “But I do have to leave now.” He knew Piper couldn’t say anything, so he just kissed her softly on the lips and orbed out. Once gone, Piper broke down. ‘Why were they doing this to her?’ she thought. The next thing she noticed was Pheobe and Prue comforting her. She showed her gratitude. ‘They were still here?’ she thought.
“Where’s jackass Jonathan?” She asked.
“Oh” Pheobe said. “He left, said that he’d be back tomorrow.”
“You guys should really go home, you’ve been here a while.” Piper said, now getting up. He sisters gave her ‘are you sure look’. “I’m positive. Go”
Piper walked her sister down the attic stairs, where they said their goodbyes for the night. Pheobe and Prue both telling Piper that they would be back tomorrow. Once she left, she walked into her Leo-less room. “Please, Come Home?” She whispered as she sunk to the floor, quietly crying.
Piper had gotten little to no sleep that night. When she did sleep, her slumber was interrupted my images of Dan and Leo. And ‘Jackass’ Jonathan.
She woke around eleven that morning. ‘On no’ she thought ‘the kids!’ Piper rushed to their bedrooms only to find that their beds had been made. Piper made her way downstairs to the kitchen, where she saw Pheobe and Prue sitting at the table reading the newspaper. “Where are the kids?” She asked.
“Not to worry.” Pheobe said sitting Piper down at one of the chairs. “Prue got here extra early and took Jack to his day care and Melinda to Pre-school.” Prue just lifted her head and nodded. Obviously something interested her in the paper. Pheobe went to get Piper a cup of coffee and placed it in front of her. “How you doing sweetie?” Pheobe asked, now trying to get the tangles out of Pipers hair with her fingers.
“Ok, I guess.” She had responded. She didn’t want to cry anymore, not in front of her sisters or her children. “How would you be if your husband had to leave?”
Prue had now looked up from her article and was about to protest when bright blue and white lights lit up the kitchen. “Here’s Jackass Jonathan” Pheobe said under her breath.
Jonathan didn’t wait for anyone to speak. “Piper, can I talk to you in private?” He asked. ‘Maybe this was a way she could get Leo back’ she thought.
“Sure.” She said, getting up from the table and leaving her sisters in the Kitchen.
Once Jonathan and Piper were out of Prue and Phoebe’s view, Jonathan grabbed hold of Piper and orbed. “What the hell are you doing?” Piper said, stepping away from Jonathan. Jonathan didn’t say anything; he just stepped closer to Piper. He took her in his arms again and kissed her. Hard! Piper tried to stop him, but felt that she couldn’t. Once he let go of Pipers lips, Piper slapped him. Really really hard. “Stay The Hell Away From ME!!” She had screamed at him.
“Wow, I thought that Leo said you were easy.” He said, rubbing his cheek where Piper had just hit him. Piper looked at him with utter most disgust.
“Leo would never say that!” She said to him, about to strike him again.
Jonathan looked at her. “Are you sure about that?” He said.
“Yes! Leo loves me.” Piper stated. “I love him!” She screamed as tears began to slide down her face. ‘Leo wouldn’t say that’ she kept thinking to herself.
“And that ladies and gentlemen is the correct answer” He said, beaming.
Piper was confused “What are you talking about?” She asked him.
“You passed your test!” He said. Piper couldn’t respond because at that very moment Leo orbed in. He ran to Piper, showering her with kisses. “No hard feelings I hope?” Jonathan asked. Piper shook her head indicating a no. “Good. But tell that Pheobe that she has quite a kick.” He said as he rubbed his groin and orbed out.
Piper and Leo both giggled as they continued their kisses. “I’m sorry,” they had both said at the same time, which emitted laughs from each of them. Then they both said at the same time “I love you” This was no laughing matter. Leo held Piper tight and orbed out with her. He was never going to be taken away from Piper again, unless maybe the REAL Dan showed up.
