“Hey, wait for me!” A four-year-old Piper yelled, running after Andy and Prue. They were in the park and she had sneaked away from Patty to be with her sister and Andy.

“Go back to mom, Piper!” Prue shouted back, she knew Piper was supposed to be around her mom and baby sister. Because Patty was worried that something would happen to her.

“But I don’t wanna…” Piper stopped and kicked the ground.

“But your mom said that you had to be near her… you have to go back. We won’t be long, I promise.” Andy told her.

“Fine!” Piper whined and went back to Patty and Phoebe.

“Piper Halliwell! Where have you been?!” Patty yelled as she grabbed her daughter by the arm and pulled her towards where Phoebe sat playing.

“I wanna play with Prue!”

Patty shook her head, “When will you learn not to go somewhere without asking me?” she scowled at Piper.

“Feebee’s boring…” Piper had a big frown on her face. Her mother was being unfair.

“Sweetheart, you’re too little to be around in the park without mommy. Prue’s older than you, and when she was your age she wasn’t allowed either.” Patty explained her.

“Dat is no fair!” She started to whine. Patty took Piper in her arms and kissed her cheek, “Mommy don’t want her little girl to get lost you know.” Piper smiled a bit, “I’m not little…”

“No, no. You’re a big girl. I forgot… forgive me?”

“Naw, I don’t wanna.” Piper grinned, trying to get away from her mothers arms. When she finally got back down on the ground she ran over to where Phoebe sat playing. “Mama, Feebee is eating grass.”

Patty shook her head at her middle daughter and went over to Phoebe taking the grass out of her mouth. “No, Phoebe, only cows eat grass…”

“Is Feebee a cow?” Piper asked teasingly.

“No cow!” Phoebe yelled at her.

“Are too.”

Phoebe hit Piper in the shoulder and yelled once more, “Naha, no cow!”

“Girls! Can’t you play nice for just only one day! Phoebe don’t hit Piper and Piper don’t tease Phoebe!”

“But mama…”

“No, Piper, I don’t wanna hear it!”

“Phoebe’s just a dumb baby…” Piper said loudly, “Why do I gotta to play with her?”

“Stop it, Piper. She’s your little sister and I don’t want to hear any more about this today. One more fight and we’re going home, is that understood?!” Patty told her daughter sternly.

“FINE!” Piper yelled annoyed.

“Piper! I told you to be nice… why are you acting this way?!” Patty yelled at Piper who stood and just looked down at the floor.

“She started it…” She tried to defend herself, but her mother was too angry with her to listen.

“That’s no excuse, your older and you should have stopped! Now go to your room and stay there until you can behave!”
“No fair, mama! She started!” Piper yelled just as angry back. She was so tired of getting yelled at for things she never started. She was always caught while having the last word.

“Go, Piper!” Patty sternly said pointing to the stairs.

“She has been acting strange for a long time now, Vic. I don’t know what’s wrong with her…” Patty told her husband, worried about her middle child.

“She’s just jealous, Patty. I mean she has been the youngest for almost three years and suddenly someone comes and steals all the attention. It will go away soon…” Victor assured her kissing her lips softly.

“Have I made any difference on the two of them? I mean I never wanted to do that. I love all my babies just as much..”

“I know that, but Piper is now the middle child. She’s feeling left out and I understand that, we’ll just have to pay some extra attention to her. She’ll grow out of it, but now she’s still a toddler.”

“I guess, you know I try to treat them the same, but I don’t know what is to be in the middle or older or younger than someone, cause I never had siblings…”

“I know, I haven’t either. That’s why it’s hard for both of us to know how to not make any difference on them. But we’ll learn, it’s just going to take some time.” He smiled warmly at Patty. “Piper’s gonna be ok, don’t worry about her.”

“Piper? Where are you?” Patty asked stepping into the room that belonged to her two oldest. When she saw movement under the bedcovers, she put two and two together. Going towards the bed, she gently pulled the covers away from Piper. “I’m sorry, sweetheart.” she whispered into her daughter’s ear.

“She started it… I didn’t do anything.” Piper told Patty, firmly staring at the wall with her arms crossed over her chest.

“Forgive me, sweet…I just didn’t know. It won’t ever happen again… I promise.” Patty stroked Piper’s small rosy cheek.

“Promise..” Piper looked up at her mother.
“Yeah, I really do. And if I ever do something you think is unfair, you have to tell me right away, ok?” Patty kissed her daughter’s forehead and smiled at her.
Piper nodded softly and smiled back.
