Disclaimer: I just borrow the characters from Spelling Television.
It was a nice and sunny Sunday. Prue and Phoebe Halliwell were doing something they had planned to do since the day Paige was thrown back into her life, the day they became witches:
They were cleaning the attic.
“Ok ewww. I’ve never seen so much dust on a bed. Can’t believe we were sitting on it then.” Phoebe said as she remembered them all sitting on the bed when their Grams and Mom showed up.
“Well things tend to get dusty if you don’t clean them for a while, Pheebs.” Prue replied.
“Smartass.” Phoebe laughed.
“Hey Prue, look what I found here.” Phoebe said as she was working on the last part of the room and held up an old photo album. She opened it and immediately a smile spread across her face. “Grams was right. These pictures are all with Paige on it. Look, she must be eight or nine years old. Was I born already then?” Phoebe asked with a silly grinn.
“Pheebs, you should know how old our sister is. Look, you’re 18, she’s 25, which would make you…”
”One or two. Wow cool, then there must be pictures of me in this album, too.” She began to look through it.
“There. Hey we’re all on it. How old were you here?”
“Are you trying to be funny, my dear sweet little sister? Are you telling me you don’t know how old I am or Piper? Are you?” Prue said laughing and tickling her sister. Phoebe was laughing so hard tears were rolling down her cheeks.
“Uncle! Uncle! Prue stop it I was just kidding! Stop!” She contunued to laugh even after Prue stopped. “Hey why don’t we find more of these albums?” She suggested.
“Good idea. Let’s make a trip to the past then. You look over there, I take this corner.”
They searched for albums and found lots of them. They decided to look into them once they found all. But on the search of a next one, Phoebe found a strange looking package of what looked like drops. ‘Man, that’s disgusting. I mean how old are they?’ She thought.
“Prue? How old can drops get until you can’t eat them anymore?” She asked her sister in the opposite corner of the attic. Prue had the ‘Huh??’ look spread across her face but still answered,
“Umm, I can’t tell you a real number but maybe a few years. Depends what kind of drops you mean, I mean you can use sugar which is actually more than just a few years old and still don’t realize the diffrence.” She explained the best she could, “Why?”
“Oh just asking.” She looked at the contents of the package. ‘Ok these must be like five years old or something. Maybe you can still eat them.’ Phoebe cringed her face at her own imagination of eating something stored for so long in the attic. But as she looked at the pink drops, that idea somehow flew away. ‘These really look good. Guess I won’t die if I try one of them.’ Her childlike curiosity as to how they would taste got over her as she put one into her mouth. ‘Hmm, not bad actually. Taste like normal strawberry drops or something.’
She placed the package on the same spot she found it and made a mental note to take it down afterwords. Phoebe didn’t see the handwriting on the inside of the package, though, telling,
“Who ever eats one of the drops has one wish. One drop, one wish. But it can only affect or concern things in the same room as the drops.”
Prue and Phoebe were now sitting on the dust-free bed, looking through the albums, laughing and remembering different things. After a while they looked again through the first album they had found.
“Aww look how cute we all are. These are the cutest girls I’ve ever seen in my life.” Prue exclaimed.
“Hey, don’t be so arrogant!” Phoebe laughed at the amazement of her big sister.
“But this must have been such a good time we all had. So carefree, without work, Mom was alive, just nothing to worry about. It must have been the perfect time we had.” Prue said with a far away look. Phoebe joined in,
“Yeah you’re right, probably. Oh man life must have been so easy without all the school stress and guys stress and paying bills stress and so on. God I wish I was back to this age again…”
As soon as these words were out of Phoebe’s mouth, a bright light surrounded the her.
Piper Halliwell was finally done with work. It was the huge disadvantage of working in a restaurant. You had to work on Sundays. She pulled her car up to the manor driveway and spotted Prue’s car. ‘Guess the two really worked in the attic without going out.’ Piper thought. ‘They must be hungry by now. I’ll fix them some dinner and Paige can have the same later.’
Paige was also at work. She could actually choose her time so she thought she would do all her work the weekend and have off on the next three days.
Piper took out her keys and opened the big wooden manor door. As she entered her home, the first thing she heard made her think she stepped into the wrong house. She actually heard what sounded like a baby crying. She looked at her surroundings. Her living room, her TV, her couch and the most assuring thing, the picture of her family in the living room. So this was her home then. But why would a baby be in here? She went upstairs where she thought the cries were from, but as she realized it was a few feet higher she made her way to the attic. What she saw she didn’t expect at all. There was Prue pacing through the attic with, indeed, a baby in her arms.
“P..Prue? What the..What is..Why..?”
“Oh God Piper you’re home! Thank God! Pheebs and I were cleaning this place and we were looking at some old photo albums and suddenly Phoebe turned into a baby!!” Prue was as upset as Piper was shocked.
“What?? So that’s Phoebe screaming in your arms?”
“I hope so. Or rather no but somehow yes..”
“Prue. Calm down, you’re not making sence. What exactly happened?” Piper said while approaching her bis sister.
“As I said, we were looking through some pictures than suddenly that bright light was there surrounding my sister and the next thing I know is there’s a baby looking exactly like Phoebe on the photos when she was one or one and a half, sitting on the bed crying instead of our 18 year-old teen.” Prue told her little sister. “And she won’t stop crying.”
“Well maybe she’s just hungry. Come on Prue. Let’s just go downstairs and we can figure everything out later.” Piper took the child from Prue and went to the kitchen, Prue following her.
“Shhh baby what is it, huh? Why are you crying? Are you hungry?” Piper tried desperately to quiet down Phoebe. But it didn’t work. So she just began to prepare a bottle which was still left in the manor. As soon as she put it in Phoebe’s mouth, the house was quiet again.
“Wow Piper, you’re a genious. How did you know she was hungry?” Prue looked at her little sis in awe as they sat in the kitchen with Phoebe drinking in Piper’s arms.
“Well there aren’t many reasons why a baby cries and most of the times it’s just hungry.” Piper said. Both sisters looked at little Phoebe as she drank the milk in record speed.
“Gosh she’s really one hungry little girl.” Prue said.
“Seems like that never changed.” Piper laughed. They continued to look at the small thing.
“I can’t remember that Phoebe was soo small at this age. She seemed bigger to me.” Prue said again.
“You were smaller then, too. That’s why. But she really is adorable. Look at her tiny fingers.” Piper said with a wide smile on her lips as Phoebe was grabbing her index finger.
“Aww they’re so small. That’s one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen.” Prue replied.
“Looks like she’s finished with the bottle. Are you okay now, baby, hmm? Are you?” Piper cooed. “Ipa?” Little Phoebe said as she touched Piper’s face.
“Yes! Aww good girl, you recognize me! Prue did you hear that? She knows it’s me!” Piper said with enthusiasm as she kissed Phoebe on the head which made her giggle.
“Hey Pheebs, who am I?” Prue tried.
“Pwue.” Phoebe answered.
“Good girl! You’re such a smart little girl Pheebs! Oh God isn’t she just adorable, Pipe?”
“She sure is.” Piper said smiling as she stood up and began to pat Phoebe on her back until she burped.
“What do we tell Paige?” Piper asked.
“The same thing I told you.” Prue replied.
The three sisters were now sitting in the living room quietly talking while Phoebe sat on Prue’s lap playing with the zipper of Prue’s parka.
“How long do you think she’ll stay like this?” Piper asked.
“I don’t have a clue. But right now I kinda don’t care.” She looked down to Phoebe who was making weird but cute noises, like those when babies attempt to sing and couldn’t help but laugh.
“Prue we’re gonna need some supplies. Like milk, clothes, toys..” She was cut off by a shocked looking Prue.
“Diapers. And she needs one really badly cause I think this girl’s just wet herself. And me.” Prue said getting up loosing it as she burst out laughing. Piper even had trouble breathing because she had to laugh so much at the sight. Prue was there standing with Phoebe still in her arms, her pants soaking wet as well as Phoebe’s. The small child was now giggling along with her sisters.
“Aww you little thing don’t know why we’re laughing, huh? You don’t know what you’ve just done.” Prue said as she cuddled Phoebe closer to her kissing her cheek and making Phoebe squeal in delight.
“Phee good?” She asked in a cute voice.
“Yes, you’re a really good girl but now we have to get you cleaned up. And me of course.” Prue walked to the bathroom with her little sister laughing in her arms.
“Piper can you call Paige and tell her to buy some baby supplies while I take a bath with Phoebe?” Prue asked on her way to the upstairs bathroom.
“Sure.” Piper looked to the clock, “I think she’s already getting into her car by now.”
Piper dialed Paige’s cell number as she sat in the living room on the sofa.
“Hello? Paige? It’s Piper. Um, are you already on the way home?..... Oh that’s good. Cause I need you to buy some things on the way........Uhh, baby supplies…..I can’t really explain it now, just come home and you’ll see….yes, but most important are diapers and baby milk. Oh and the baby is about one or two years old. Rather one. And it’s a she so don’t buy the wrong diapers or clothes, okay? But I think we still have some toys in the attic so…Paige I’ll explain it as soon as you’re here, just buy everything….. Yes, we do have a baby in our house….Oh man Paige. Just come home, will ya? See you, bye.” Piper hung up the phone with a laugh as she heard Paige’s confusion in her voice. ‘You’re gonna like this, I think..’ Piper thought to herself.
Meanwhile Prue sat in the bathtub with Phoebe, trying hard not to let her splash too much water on the floor.
“Pheebs stay sill. I can’t wash your hair like that.” She said laughing, desperately trying to get a hold of Phoebe’s curly still rather short hair. It was like grabbing a fish in the water with your hands. Finally managing to wash out the shampoo, she heard the front door close.
‘Paige must be home.’ She assumed.
Paige Halliwell had already had a stressful day but now her little sister was talking about having a baby in their house. She didn’t want to deal with that but what can you do? She had bought all kinds of supplies you need. Baby clothes, diapers, a pacifier, toys…just lots of stuff. She opened the front door struggling not to drop anything of the new objects. Piper greeded her in the hallway.
“Hi Paige. Thanks again for buying all that. Wait, I’ll help you.” Piper grabbed some of the things off of Paige.
“Piper. Would you please, please explain now what this is all about? Why do we have a baby in our house? And where is it, anyway?” Paige said getting a little exasperated.
“Calm down, Paige. It’s nothing too serious….I think. Anyway, the baby’s with Prue in the bathroom. I’ll tell them to come down now, ok?” Receiving a nod, Piper grabbed the diapers and a pair of new clothes and rushed upstairs. The squealing of the baby was already heard when she knocked on the door.
“Prue? Can I come in? I got some diapers and clothes you might need for the little one.” The door opened and a freshly clothed Prue with wet hairs and a naked Phoebe in her arms gratefully took the things from Piper.
“Hey Pipe. Am I glad to finally get her out of this room. She has an amount of energy in this tiny body you won’t believe it.” She said, a hint of exhaustion on her face.
“Oh I do believe you. She hasn’t really changed in the following 17 years.” Piper laughed.
“Ipa! Ipa!” Came the baby voice reaching her little arms towards Piper.
“Heey my little baby. Come here, I’ll dress you up.” Piper beamed as she took Phoebe from Prue and began to put the diaper in place and get the baby into some clothes. “There we go, all done sweetie.” She shifted the baby to her hip and made her way to the living room to explain everything to Paige.
Paige sat there impatiently as she finally heard her sisters enter the room. She looked up her face claiming for explanations but this expression was suddenly replaced by plain shock, then delight as she caught sight of the baby.
“Oh my Gosh! Is that… is that…”
“Phoebe.” Prue answered as she took her baby sister from Piper again and placed her on the couch right next to Paige. Phoebe immediately crawled onto Paige’s lap.
“What, what, what…what happened?” Paige asked confused but there was still so much love in her eyes as she pulled Phoebe closer to her.
“Mommy?” Phoebe said as she clutched Paige closer to her.
“Wow, she thinks you’re Mom.” Piper said a little surprised.
“I don’t think so Piper. I think she’s aware of the fact that this is Paige and not Mom as in our Mom. But Paige was the one who raised her. You know like changed her, put her to sleep, nursed her and so on.” Prue explained.
“Aww that’s so cute of you, honey.” Paige said as she gave her little sis a kiss on the forehead. But she quickly turned to her other little sisters. “No wait. You didn’t answer my question. What happened? Why is Phoebe a baby? Baby as in one year-old.”
Prue and Piper then began to tell her the whole story, though it wasn’t really long for Prue didn’t know herself what exactly had happened to Phoebe.
“Okay we don’t know what happened at all and it’s no use to just stay here and think so why don’t we move and go to the attic, where it all happened.” Paige suggested.
“Mommy Phee hungwy.” Said the baby still sitting on Paige’s lap.
“You’re hungry baby? Okay, Mommy’s gonna feed you then.” She smiled at her baby sister and turned to Prue and Piper, “seems like we just have to deal with this whole thing first. Piper can you warm up some milk, please?”
“Sure Paige. By the way you haven’t had dinner yet, either so why don’t I just make all of us something to eat?” Piper suggested going as she went into the kitchen.
They now sat at the dinner table with Piper’s gorgeous meal on it. Paige watched as Piper came in with a bottle of milk and gave it to her.
“Here comes your meal my little one. You gotta eat a lot to grow up.” She said to Phoebe on her lap.
“Paige, you know we won’t keep her like this forever, right?” Prue said.
“Sure I know that. But I can’t help myself from saying it. I mean I did it when she was this age, I mean in reality this age, too.” She sighed, “She’s so cute, I wish we could keep her this way.”
“Yeah, but it wouldn’t be right. Not to mention Phoebe would object.” Piper said. “By the way I think she’s finished, Paige.”
Paige looked at the small figure and indeed, the bottle was empty.
“You eat with lightning speed, huh? Could anyone give me a towel, please?”
“There you go, Mom.” Prue said grinning and handed Paige a towel which was placed on her shoulder. Paige playfully hit Prue’s arm. “Thank you.” Paige said as she burped Phoebe.
The sisters were now chatting in the living room with Phoebe on Prue’s lap. She had her head on her big sister’s chest and the pacifier in her mouth. The sisters looked at her as she suddenly let out a small sob. Prue immediately got concerned.
“Hey, hey sweetie what’s the matter?” She stood up and started to bounce Phoebe in her arms. Phoebe just hid her face in the crook of Prue’s neck as she continued to whimper.
“Shhh baby, you’re okay. What is it, hmm? You can’t be hungry again, right? Do you need a change? Are you tired? Does anything hurt? Come on honey what is it?” Prue said as she gently rocked the youngest.
“Prue I think that’s it. She’s just tired. I mean it’s pretty late for a baby.” Piper said.
“Ok, I’ll put her to bed. Or do you want to?” Paige asked Prue.
“Yeah I’ll do it. You guys can actually go to the attic look for anything suspicious.” Prue replied and carried Phoebe upstairs. “Oh Pheebs. What did you just do, honey?” Prue whispered to herself as she saw her little sister asleep on her bed. After going downstairs, she heard that Paige and Piper didn’t find anything in the attic, nor in the BOS. Giving up for the day, the sisters went to bed.
They were awoken by the loud cries of their baby sister.
“So it wasn’t a dream.” Piper groaned as she got up and rushed into Phoebe’s room. She looked at the clock that showed 6:10am. Yawning, she approached her sister and picked her up in her arms and started rocking her.
“Shh shh shhh. I’m here now, big sis is here. Stop crying, love, it’s alright. You surely need to be changed, huh? Come on, baby.” She carried her to the bathroom. After she was done, she thought she couldn’t fall asleep again, anyway, so she just went into the kitchen and fixed Phoebe a bottle and herself a bowl of chopped fruits. After a while her older sisters came in.
“Morning Piper. Thanks for getting Phoebe earlier.” Paige said with a yawn. Much like Prue did.
“No problem. I think I kinda have the gift to read baby’s minds. She just needed a change.” Piper said laughing.
“Good thing for your future. Actually you can practice with Pheebs.” Prue said with a grin.
“Prue I’m not ready for kids yet at all. And I think it’s just this is Phoebe. I just know what’s wrong. Her cries sound different, you can actually distinguish a cry for food or a cry for a change or a cry for attention, like when she’s bored, you know? Ever noticed that?”
“Well yeah, but not even I could tell what her current wish was.” Paige answered a little disappointed in herself. Suddenly, they heard a loud crash from the conservatory. Rushing in, they saw a really ugly something standidng there, an energy ball-like thing forming in its hands. Piper froze it out of pure reflex.
“Piper get Phoebe out of here!” Prue yelled. She threw the demon across the room and kept throwing it against the wall until it vanished, shattered in a million pieces. Since she wasn’t really accustomed to use her power this repeatedly, she stumbled forward but Paige caught her in time.
“Prue. You okay, honey? Take it easy. Deep breaths. Now come on, let’s sit down for a minute, okay?” Paige said gently as she guided Prue to a chair in the kitchen where Piper sat trying to calm down a bawling Phoebe by bouncing her knee up and down with the baby on it.
“It’s okay Phoebe, he’s gone. You’re safe now, ssshhh. Calm down honey, it’s fine.” She saw Paige walking in with a little winded Prue. “Hey you alright, Prue?”
“Yeah, just a little dizzy.”
“Here sweetie, drink this.” Paige handed her little sister a glass of water.
“Thanks Paige.”
It took Piper another five minutes to quiet down her little sister.
“Man that demon scared the shit out of her. Look how long she’s been screaming now.” Prue said. Then she saw Piper sniff.
“Uh oh. And I think it’s literally, Prue. Alright Pheebs, let’s go get you cleaned up, hey?” She sighed but continued with love in her voice shifting Phoebe on her hip standing up to go to the bathroom, “Oh honey I just changed you. If you go on like this we’ll run out of diapers like tomorrow.”
The other two laughed. Paige got up and stopped Piper.
“It’s okay Piper. Give her to me, I’ll handle it. You stay with Prue a bit. She’s still a little weak on her knees so..” With that, Paige took Phoebe from the middle sis and went out of the kitchen to go clean her up.
“Do you need anything, Prue?” Piper asked as she walked back into her kitchen.
“No thatks Pipe. I’m fine now. You know we really can’t keep Phoebe like this. As much as I want her to stay this way, it’s way too dangerous. What if the demon had attacked her? She wouldn’t have been able to defend herself at all.”
“You’re right, Prue. I just wonder what the heck happened to turn her into a baby. What exactly were you talking about when you were looking at the pictures?” Piper asked.
“Well we were looking at us as kids and I said how good it must have been with Mom there, no work, no bills to pay and Pheebs said something about no stress with school or guys and then……uh oh.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Then she…I think she wished…wished she’d be that age, meaning one and a half, again. And suddenly the lights appeared.” Prue remembered.
“But that would mean she must have done something to make her wishes come true.” Piper said. “Was there anything she did? Like looked for a spell in the BOS or something?”
“No, I don’t think so.. We were together in the attic all day, I would know it if she cast a spell. But she…” Prue cut herself off and shook her head. This had nothing to do with it.
“She what, Prue?” Piper pushed.
“No Piper, this has nothing to do with Phoebe’s wish. It was just weird.”
“Prue what was weird? Maybe it has to do something with all this. Anything might help now.”
“Ok. She kinda asked me how old drops have to be that you can’t eat them anymore.” Prue laughed as Piper had the same ‘huh?’ face as she had had it when Phoebe asked her.
“Okay that sounds like it really doesn’t have a lot to do with this.” But suddenly she remembered a tiny package of sweets she had seen in the attic with Paige. ‘Ok we have to try anything now.’ Piper thought and got up to get the package, leaving behind a confused Prue.
On her way downstairs she bumped into Paige.
“Oh sorry Paige. Where’s Phoebe?”
“It’s okay. Phoebe’s sound asleep like a baby. Guess all the crying wore her out a lot.”
“Paige she IS a baby. But maybe not that much longer. Look.” She handed Paige the package.
“Drops? Piper just because you give her sweets she won’t do you the favor to turn back into the normal Phoebe.” At this, Piper rolled her eyes.
“Duh no, Paige. Look at the inside of it.” Piper showed her discovery.
“Wow, there’s something written on it…Oh my God these sweets grant you your wishes!” Paige exclaimed as she was finished reading.
“Exactly. And guess what Phoebe said to Prue when they were looking at the pictures.” Now it dawned on Paige.
“Oh no. She wanted to be back at this age, right? Does Prue already know about these?” She held the sweets up.
“No, not yet. I just found them. So let’s tell her.”
The sisters went downstairs to Prue and expalined everything.
“Wait. Isn’t that quite easy then to get her back? Someone of us just has to wish her back.” Prue concluded.
“Yeah, true. So who’s gonna do it?”
“Aw, can’t we keep her a little longer? We can wish her back anytime. She’s soo cute right now.” Paige said.
“I know Paige but as you’ve seen just now with the demon, it’s too dangerous. By the way we should throw these drops away, anyway. It’s no good to have something like that in our house. I mean I know you guys know how to use them properly but Phoebe doesn’t. I never know what’s in that head of hers.”
“You’re right. We shouldn’t keep them. And we should have our old Phoebe back.” Piper said.
“Yeah, probably. That’s okay. She’s quite the cute baby, too.” Paige said with a laugh.
“She sure is, Paige. Now, who’s gonna do it?” Prue asked.
“Let me.” Piper said as she grabbed the package out of Prue’s hand and threw one of the drops in her mouth.
“Mmm, these are quite good. Taste like strawberry.” Piper said as she looked at the remaining drops in the package.
“Piper say the wish.” Prue urged.
“Ok ok….Actually you guys know that I could wish anything right know?” Paige and Prue shot her a glare.
“Just kidding, calm down. Ok. I wish Phoebe was her old self again.” And suddenly, they heard strange noises from upstairs. The sisters went to check it up. They entered Phoebe’s room to find their 18 year-old sister fast asleep on the bed.
“Seems like it worked.” Paige said a little sadly.
“I already miss the baby.” Prue said.
“Me, too.” Piper added.
Then they saw Phoebe stir.
“Mmm Mommy…?” First, the sisters were shocked. Maybe Phoebe only had her old body back. Still, Paige went over to the bed and picked Phoebe up on her lap.
“Yeah baby, Mommy’s here. Had a good nap, my little one?” She cooed kissing Phoebe on the head.
“Mmmm…what…Paige? Guys, what are you all doing in here? And what did you just say to me? Why am I on your lap?” She asked in the sleepiest voice possible and with her eyes half closed. The sisters were relieved. And the cuteness was still there.
“Because you’re my sweet little girl, baby. Aww, come here. You’re soo tired.” Paige said as she cuddled a confused Phoebe closer and began to stroke her back, gently pushing her sister’s head down on her shoulder. Phoebe didn’t know what was up but thought she’d figure it out later and for now just wanted to enjoy the attention and warmth she received. She closed her eyes and was asleep again in less than a few seconds. Not knowing that a long story awaited her in the morning.
the end.
