Three sisters were seen running across the street. Arriving on the other side, the youngest picked up a paper.
“Mum was barely pregnant with me. Here, March 24, 1975. That's the day that mum made the pact with Nicholas.” She showed it to her two sisters.
“So maybe that's why the spell sent us back here, to stop the pact.” Prue concluded.
“Which means it could be the only way for us to get back to our own time. We've got to go see mum and warn her about Nicholas.” Piper looked at both of them.
“Yeah, but we have to do a better job of convincing mum then we did Grams. This time we have to use our powers.” Prue remembered the scary attack by Grams as she mistook them for warlocks.
“The problem is she's on the lookout for three warlocks now.” Piper spoke out her big sister’s thoughts.
“Well, then maybe only two of us should approach her just in case.” The oldest duggested.
“Well, since I don't have any powers to show mum I think it should be you two. I'll just stand outside and watch for Nicholas.” Her voice was already filled with disappointment. But Phoebe knew that this was the only possibility to get rid of Nicholas. Piper looked at her youngest sister with sadness in her eyes.
“That doesn't seem fair to you Phoebe, not being able to see mum.”
“I know, it's not, but I got over that a long time ago. I don't need to see her now.” Phoebe replied. She had to swallow hard to keep her eyes from getting watery. Prue seemed to somehow sense this. She was now looking at her youngest sister with concern in her eyes.
‘Oh Prue. Stop doing that. It’s certainly not any easier to suppress your feelings when you look at me like that.’ Phoebe thought to herself. She covered her sadness with a small laugh. “Really, it's okay. We better get going before we miss her.” She turned around quickly. But she couldn’t turn away and walk away from the sorrow and disappointment she had felt in years for not being able to see her mother, for not having any memories of her at all.
They had been walking down the streets for five minutes now. Neither sister had spoken a word. Phoebe feared that if she stopped clenching her teeth, she would fall apart right now and right there. The older two sisters merely felt sympathy for their youngest. It was then they heard a loud voice behind them.
“Mommy!!” Some little kid was jumping out of the front door of a house, her father walking out right behind his little daughter. Looking to the driveway, they saw a woman getting out of the car with baggage placed next to her. She knelt down with a wide smile, spreading out the arms to welcome her precious child. The girl just ran into these arms as they picked her up.
“I missed you so much Mommy!” The kid had a wide smile plastered on her face.
“I missed you, too my sweet little girl! But now Mommy’s here with you, right? Have you been good for Daddy?” She tilted her head back slightly to look into the kid’s eyes as the girl nodded enthusiastically.
“Uh huh! I did my homework every day and I even helped Daddy in the garden!”
“Really? Oh I’m so proud of you, sweetheart. Come on, let’s go inside, hey? Mommy can make you something nice for lunch.” She then carried her daughter towards the front door. With the child still in her arms, she gave her husband, who had placed the baggage inside, a kiss and the three of them walked inside the house, shutting the door behid them.
Why did they have to see it now? Prue knew it was too much for her sister. And her thoughts were confirmed as she saw Phoebe turn away again. She merely went on.
“Phoebe?” Prue stopped her with a hand on her little sister’s shoulder. Phoebe stopped but she didn’t turn around. “Honey, look at me.” Prue’s voice was gentle. The youngest shook her head no. “No sweetie, look. It’s ok. It’s ok to cry.” It was now Phoebe turned around slowly. Tears were already wetting her cheeks.
“Oh honey.” Piper then hugged her sister from her side while Prue pulled her into her warm arms straight from the front. Phoebe just pushed her face onto Prue’s shoulder.
“I…this is so…so unfair…” She managed between sobs.
“I know sweetie, I know.” Prue whispered into her baby sister’s hair as she rubbed her back comfortingly.
“I…everytime on Christmas or…or on my birthday…or even when I saw a shooting star….I…I always wished for Mom to come…to come back, even if it’s just for a short time. And…and now she’s here, so close and…and I still can’t see her.” She cried into Prue’s shoulder.
“Shhh baby. It’s going to be okay.” Prue kissed Phoebe on the head. “I’m sure you’ll see her. Even if it’s not now I’m so sure you’ll be able to meet her sometime. Don’t give your hopes up, sweetie.”
“Yeah, Prue’s right baby. We’re witches now and we’ve seen that nothing’s impossible.” Piper added while lovingly running her fingers through her little sister’s hair.
“I…I know. And I know I shouldn’t have given way to my tears, not now.” Phoebe started to pull back from her sisters’ tight hold. “I know we have little time. I’m so sorry.”
“No. Phoebe.” Sighing loudly, Prue pulled the youngest back into her arms and held her head to her shoulder again. “You now what? You’ll hurt yourself when you keep bottling up these feelings. Pheebs, it’s alright to let it go. No time or not, what matters most is that you’re ok. And I can see that you aren’t if you don’t let it out now. I know this issue’s already hunting you your whole life. And now that you’re here back when Mom is still alive…was…whatever, it hurts you more than anytime you were thinking about her. And we totally understand that. We’re witches, all right but we’re still human. Don’t be sorry for having feelings, Phoebe. Don’t ever be sorry for crying. Okay?” Prue looked pushed Phoebe slightly away to look at her. “Okay?” She said again until she saw the youngest nod, still sniffing though. “Good. You ok now? Or do you need a little more time?”
“No. Thank you Prue. And you too, Piper. I’m ok for now. And I know you’ll be there for me whenever I feel like crying and complaining and whining.” She said with a laugh. “Thanks. I know I’ll see Mom. Sometime I will. And for now that’s enough for me. So let’s get going, we have to vanquish Nicholas’ sorry ass.” She showed a small grin.
“Ok Pheebs. Let’s go then.” Piper and Prue both answered as the oldest put her arm around Phoebe’s shoulders and Piper sneaked hers around her waist. Three sisters could be seen walking across the street again, arm in arm. Neither one of them knew the chance for the youngest to see her mother would come sooner than they expected.
After this, the Prue and Piper arrive at Buddies (for those who don't remember).
