Phoebe stood at the curb and starred at where Zankou had just been standing. Her comment ‘warts and all’ still in her head when she felt the gentle touch of the hand on her back.
“You need a lift back to work?” Piper followed her sisters’ gaze to where their newest enemy had been.
“Um no I’m ok. Thanks though. You better go home and see about Leo.”
“I have a minute or two. Come on.” Piper took Phoebes arms and started to walk down the street.
Making their way to the park Piper sat on a bench as she waited for Phoebe to sit in beside her.
“Phoebs?”
Phoebe looked across the park to the kids playing on the playground set. She finally sat down next to Piper but couldn’t keep her eyes off the kids playing.
“I saw it all Piper. You and Leo get to go on with your life. Poor Paige. She feels lost and hurt right now.”
Piper sat there and let Phoebe say what was on her mind.
“I saw everything like it was happening again. Felt everyone’s pain of loss like it was real and yesterday. Andy, Grams, you, Chris.” She brushed back the tears that were starting to cascade down her checks. “Mum.” She added in quietly.
“Cole?” Piper pushed a bit knowing what her sister had gone through to get herself and Paige to really see what was going on.
“I never stopped loving him Piper.”
Piper put her arm over Phoebes shoulders and drew her towards her, “I know and he never stopped loving you. Just like Prue will never stop loving us.” Piper knew that that was another death her sister had seen and felt, maybe more then the others. She had felt her own pain as well as what she herself had felt. It was still a raw wound with the two of them.
Piper thought of how she had felt when she realized what Phoebe had been saying to her in the Manor that afternoon. The pain in her heart as it broke when she realized that Leo was gone. Her little sister had felt that pain over everyone they had lost in the last seven years.
Ever since they started on their path as witches both her and Prue had felt bad whenever Phoebe got a premonition. Now it would seem even after all these years Piper still wished that her sister didn’t have to see the things she did.
“I’m sorry. That you had to see it all again sweetie.”
“I had to.”
“I know. But you shouldn’t have. Leo should have come to me. He should have told me.”
“I saw it Piper and it was because of that he came to me. Comes with the power I’ve always known that. It was the only way he could make us realized what was going on.”
Piper didn’t say anything as the two of them sat beside one another.
“I miss her so much Piper. I still hurts to breathe at times.” It was that raw pain that she had pushed aside not a few hours before. Pain she felt every day. Pain that she felt ten times over, the minute she touched the book.
“So do I.”
Phoeb leaned against Piper as the kids continued to play. “You think we did the right thing Piper. I mean stopping it all from happening?”
“Yeah I do. They took away our free will. Our right to feel what you did. That is unfortunately part of life. To feel the pain of lose.”
“You think Prue would have liked it. Utopia, even for a little while?”
“Yes, until some demon came along and hurt one of us. Then we would have lost her anyway.”
“Yeah she would have been one of the rebels wouldn’t she?” Phoebe smiled at the thought of her big sister causing conflict like Leo had.
Phoebe brushed away the tears and turned and gave Piper a hug, “Go see Leo.”
“No I can stay.”
“No go. I’m ok. I’ll walk back to work. I just want to think a bit.”
“Phoebe.”
“Honest Piper. I’m ok. I’ll see you later. Go be with Leo.” Phoebe did just want a few minutes to gather what had all happened. And not just with utopia but everything that she had seen of her life and her sisters in the last seven years.
Piper gave Phoebe one more glance before getting up from the bench. “See you for dinner?”
“Yeah. Wouldn’t miss it.”
Piper leaned down and gave Phoebe a quick kiss on the cheek. “Love you.”
“Love you too.”
Phoebe sat a bit longer as she watched the kids play some more. She saw there little girls playing on the swing, the older one pushing the youngest as the middle one looked on. As if she was waiting for something to happen. Phoeb smiled at the memory that flashed in her mind. One that made her both smile and cry together. One that stirred more memories of those she lost over the years. But this time she knew they were in a better place. And would always be in her heart.
