The song No Time to Kill belongs to Clint Black
August 13, 2003
The sun broke through the clouds as another summer day started. It looked like one of those days where the Mother Nature wasn’t sure what to throw down on the earth. The wisps of clouds in the west bringing with it the threat of rain, but the sun gaining height and heat rose in the sly fighting back the clouds as best it could.
She rolled over at the smell of fresh baking coming from the kitchen and knew instantly who was up. But as she lay there thinking about the day her eyes drifted to a picture on her nightstand. She just lay there starring at the figures sitting on the deck in the back yard. One in the chair another squatting at the knees and the third sitting on the back of the chair with her legs sitting over his shoulder. It was summer she remembered all to well. One that almost tore her apart but brought them all closer together. None of them ever gave any thought of what would happen fourteen year later.
There's no time to kill between the cradle and the grave
Father Time still takes a toll on every minute that you save
Legal tender's never gonna change the number on your days
The highest cost of livin's dyin', that's one everybody pays
So have it spent before you get the bill, there's no time to kill
Laura laughed as she ran down the beach away from Troy. She quickly started for her friend as he got closer.
"She can't help you pal. You’ll both go in." he laughed as he tried to grab her as she tried to hide behind Phoebe.
"I don’t think so pal." Phoebe laughed as she moved away from Laura and reached out for Troy, grabbing him around the waist. "If we go in we all go in. Laura! Some help her!" Phoebe cried out as Troy had managed to get his arms around her waist and lift her off the ground.
Laura laughed as Troy dump their friend into the icy cold waters.
"Oh my God. You two are dead!" she cried out as she quickly ran from the waters and ran and grabbed her friend into a bear hug. "That I’ll teach you not to help me pal." She laughed as she continued to do her best to get Laura soaking wet from her own wet clothes
If we'd known ten years ago today would be ten years from now
Would we spend tomorrow's yesterdays and make it last somehow
Or lead the cheers in someone else's game and never learn to play
And see the rules of thumb are all the same that measure every day
The grass is green on both sides of the hill, there's no time to kill
Phoebe made her way down the steps her nose following the smell of fresh croissants.
"Oh Piper you are the best."
Piper turned around to see Phoebe walking into the kitchen her shirts and tank top indicating another relaxing day in the backyard curled up with a good book as she worked on her tan. But Piper also knew what today meant to her baby sister but never said anything. She knew in time Phoebe would come to her and Prue as she had the year before.
She sat in the lawn chair as her mind drifted off again.
"Laura I can't believe he is finally graduating."
"Yeah well he is. And we are going to rock this town tonight and help him celebrate."
They watched as he excepted his diploma and as he turned around all he could hear was the hooting and whistling from the back of the gym. He knew who it was and laughed as he sent a kiss back to each of them.
He gave them each a big hug when all was done, "So where are we off too?"
"Your party pal, we’re just here for the ride." Phoebe laughed as she hooked her arm through his as Laura took the other one.
"Yeah we have to live this to the fullest isn’t that what you always say. And something about spend it all because you can't take it with you."
Troy looked at his once girlfriend and smiled. "Let’s go then."
No time to kill, even I've said it and probably always will
But I can look ahead and see that time ain't standin' still
No time to kill but time to change the kind of hurry I've been in
And quit this work and worry lookin' back at where I've been
If you don't look ahead nobody will, there's no time to kill
Prue walked into the Manor after a long day shot. She wanted to be alone for at least five minutes, before any demon attacked she hoped. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the phone ringing.
"Halliwell Manor Prue speaking."
"Hey Prue it’s Laura. Is Phoebe around?"
"Um I’m not sure I just got in. let me check." Prue covered the phone and called for her younger sister. Getting no answer, "Sorry Laura doesn’t look like. I can tell her you called."
Laura wasn’t sure where her friend was but knew that today she needed to see her, "Um. Yeah that’d be great. Thanx Prue."
Piper walked in the back door as Prue placed the receiver down slowly. Something in Laura voice made her wonder.
"Hey you. What's wrong?"
"I.. I don’t know that was Laura she sounded. I don’t know."
"Sad. Upset. Down."
"Yeah all of those."
"Prue don’t you remember what today is?" Piper asked as she placed the bag of groceries on the island in the middle of the kitchen.
Prue looked at Piper a moment as realization hit her, "Where’s Phoebs?"
"Haven't seen her since this morning." Piper said as she saw Prue thinking of what her baby sister was going through. They had all known him and it was hard on all three of them when they had learned of his death two years ago. To them he was Phoebes Andy. The one she had known forever. The brother she never had. She had given everything to him they knew. But in the end they had always remained forever friends.
If we had an hour glass to watch each one go by
Or a bell to mark each one to pass, we'd see just how they fly
Would we escalate the value to be worth its weight in gold
Or would we never know the fortunes that we had 'til we grow old
And do we just keep killin' time until there's no time to kill
She sat on her bed flipping one page after the other. Each one bringing back the full details of the memory. She had heard Prue calling her but she was lost in her memories. Lost in what each moment meant to her. Moments she knew where gone, but worth more to her then anything else in her world. Something no one could replace to her.
She remembered his smile as it shone at her. The warmth of his hug whenever he held her. The taste of his kisses. The sound of his laugher when someone told a joke, and the different one when he was up to mischief. The sound of his voice as he talked to her long into the night. Sounds she would always hold dear as she knew she would never hear them again. Only until she joined him.
The door let out a small squeak as it was eased open. They saw her sitting on the bed with the photo album open. They saw her staring down at the pictures with her hand resting ever so gently on the pages.
They just sat with her and flipped though the pages with her. Water-skiing at the lake. Back yard BBQ’s in the summer. The class ski trip to Tahoe. The parties till dawn. Laura’s wedding. And just the three of them all hanging out at the Manor.
"I miss him." Was all she said as a lone tear escaped down her face, one she didn’t even bother to try and hide.
Prue wrapped her arms around her sister as Piper did the same. "We all do honey. But he will always be with you. And one day you’ll see him again." She tried to comfort her sister anyway she could but she felt the tear soaking through her shirt as she held on to Phoebe.
Piper tucked her sisters’ hair off her face, "What you say we all go out and do something fun and crazy. I think he would want you to do that sweetie." She suggested knowing what their dear friend was like.
"Live life to the fullest. Wasn’t that his motto?" Prue added as she felt Phoebe make no effort to move at Pipers suggestion.
"Take each moment in the hand now. No time to waste no time to kill." Phoebe said, "It was what he always said.
No time to kill
No time to kill
No time to kill
She sat in the grass and gently ran her hand over the stone. She placed a kiss to her fingers and gently laid it on his name. Trying to hold back the tears that where threatening to pour down her face, "I love you." She managed to get out between the gasps of tears that now fell freely.
She felt the warm arms around her as she rested her head on Prue’s shoulder. Each of them giving their love to a friend taken to soon.
In memory of a beloved friend and brother who was taken from this earth to soon. We will always live life to the fullest for we never know what tomorrow may bring.

In my heart today and everyday.
If the while I think on thee, dear friend
All losses are restored and sorrows end
