Jasmine does not own any of the Charmed One’s, she just writes about them .
(Scene: Halliwell’s manor, kitchen. The radio on the cabinet was switched on, “Good morning San Francisco. Bright and sunny, expect no sights of rainfall over the next couple of days to spoil whatever mission you had planned on hand…”. Over at the stove, Piper was busying herself making breakfast as usual for her sisters, and humming a jovial song. Great, she thought, no disturbances from the natural side, at least that wasn’t the last thing on the list to spoil the next few days for the siblings’ outing. Piper had discharged her duties at P3 over to her assistant manager, had Leo not to bother them unless really necessary or rather to say, very demonic important. It had been a long time since they shared some intimate moments together, just the three of them. A long time since Phoebe came home and stumbled on the “Book Of Shadows”. While the pancakes were cooking, Piper walked across to the table and checked again for the third time the contents in the big bag. Junk food, can food, ingredients… stuffs necessary for a two nights stay cum trekking in the wilderness. Piper recalled a week ago when Prue made the suggestion, in fact she was rather surprised when she said it since the hyperactive one in the family has always been the youngest one. Prue had wanted a more memorable way of celebrating her birthday, one that excluded all the wild side of having a party, one that dismissed the usual handshaking and well wishing. She had only wanted her sisters to be with her and of course they were more than willing enough to oblige her, since the oldest one had already sacrificed so much of her younger days looking after them, since the oldest one had become muck like a protector after discovering their truth heritage and most important of all, their siblings love for one another surpassed just everything. Piper thought of the season in town then, mid autumn, a nice kind of weather to get involved in a sisterly fun… The kettle whistled interrupting her thoughts. She turned her attention back to the pot which she was about to make some coffee for everyone. The only thing she wasn’t hoping for is any kind of distraction from the dark side. Piper prayed hard that whatever demon or warlock that was about to come into town soon, let their bus delayed just a bit longer…)
(Scene: Phoebe’s room. Prue opened the door and took a peek at the direction of the bed where the figure was lying motionless beneath the covers. Confirming her thoughts, Prue smiled and opened the door wider, stepped in and walked freely to the side of the bed. Hands at waist, she looked down on the sleeping sister, soft brown hair with nice fringe at front, and dressed in her favorite tweedy pyjamas. Lying on her right side, her left hand was clutching a teddy bear that was only 5 years younger than herself, considering the time it was bought till then at her side. The cuddling bear had been with its mistress for more than 17 years, Prue and Piper had chipped in their savings to buy it as a birthday gift. Her right hand was in a ‘thumbs-up’ position and Prue chuckled at the thought of the youngest one actually still have been sucking her thumb in her sleep at her age without her knowing. Sitting down carefully on the edge, Prue shook her gently on the arm as not to startle her from whatever dreams she might be engaged at the moment…)
Prue: Pheebs… (Shaking) Phoebe honey, wake up. (Watched as Phoebe rolled over and laid on her back but eyes still closed) Phoebe? Rise and shine, sleepyhead. We are ready to go anytime you say so.
(Phoebe moved her eyelids, grumbled a little since she was disturbed at the mid-sleeping session. Prue giggled as what came out from her mouth was clearly inaudible, like a baby gurgling away. She rubbed her eyes and attempt to resume sleeping when the shaking persisted.)
Phoebe (Yawning and stretching): Hey… stop that… you are starting a scale 3 earthquake already… (Speech sluggish)
Prue: If you ignore me further, don’t say I never warn you about an imminent volcano eruption.
Phoebe (Peeled opened her eyes): What time is it? Why are you waking me up so early? (Yawned again) You knew I slept late last night Prue… have a heart.
Prue (Smiling): Phoebe, its coming to ten now and I wake you up because we still got a trip to make and if we don’t get our butt on the move now, we might end up sleeping in Piper’s jeep tonight.
Phoebe (Eyes wide opened blinking): Huh? Trip? (Saw Prue’s questioning eyes) Oh… the trip. Yeah, our trip.
Prue: Tell me Phoebe that you still remember it.
Phoebe (Sitting up on bed): Of course I do, how can I forget? The first time my sister voluntarily wants to go on a trek and be in touch with Mother Nature… to think that you are always the one trying to dissuade me in the past.
Prue: I guess age is catching up and I simply refuse to do it in my golden years.
Phoebe (Smile): Awww, come one Prue, you are only coming 28, not the right side left. You are still single, sexy, hot, irresistible, undeniable…
Prue: So you do peeked when I was bathing or changing?
Phoebe (Shocked look): Oops… I busted Piper’s secret. (Started giggling)
Prue: Why you little brat!
(With that, Prue subjected Phoebe to a few minutes of endless laughing fit by tickling her most vulnerable spot. Looking at her, Prue can’t help but noticed that the youngest of the family has really grown up. And seeing her revert back to their younger days at times, it sure warm Prue to know that she is still being needed around…)
Prue: Ok, you better get a shower quick. Piper has been toiling in the kitchen since six this morning.
Phoebe (Pulling off the covers): Why so early? I thought we got everything nicely planned out?
Prue (Walked Phoebe to the bathroom): You know Piper, she’s always so careful about everything. I saw her checking and taking stocks of our things in case she missed something you need.
Phoebe: Hey, why me? Ok, don’t give me the status reason again.
Prue (Smiling innocently): That’s… precisely right at the tip of my tongue honey.
Phoebe: Prue! (Protesting)
Prue (Laughing): Just get a shower, come downstairs and have breakfast together. I’ll wait.
Phoebe: Ooookkkk….
(Prue chuckled as Phoebe skipped hurriedly to the bathroom. Seconds later, she heard loud singing from beyond the door. Sweet melodious notes, that’s what Phoebe was blessed with since young, a good voice box. Prue walked down the stairs and strolled into the aroma filled kitchen. Piper was still humming while getting the pancakes into a plate beside. She walked around and kissed her on her cheek…)
Prue: Hmmmm… smells great.
Piper (Smiling): As in the pancakes or me?
Prue: Not to hurt your feelings? You. Not to let my empty stomach down? Pancakes. So it’s a little on both sides. I’m not biased.
Piper (Chuckling): Want to help?
Prue: Sure, what do I do?
Piper: Get yourself a cup of coffee, go to your usual place, sit and wait for me to serve you, that will help.
Prue: Hey, like I will mess up the stove.
Piper: You said it yourself.
Prue: You laid the trap.
Piper: No I didn’t.
Prue: Yes you did you bad little sister.
(Prue hugged Piper for a while before settling down for a cup of coffee and paper in hand. After some time, Piper placed a plate of hot pancakes in front of her, she smiled in gratitude but made no point to touch it.)
Piper: Why aren’t you eating?
Prue: I promised I will wait for her to come down.
Piper: Oh… (Was about to return to her seat but hesitated)
Prue: What?
Piper: Prue? You think I bought enough food for the trip?
Prue (Rolled her eyes): Urgghhhh… Piper! Do you realize that you have asked me that the what time already?
Piper (Grinned): Sorry. You know our sister, which kind of food had actually managed to properly connect to her?
Prue (Chuckling): That always explain why she down great volume of stuffs until the right one settle the score with her tummy.
Piper: Its great that she has a high metabolism rate, don’t forget we have always used her as a leftover bin.
Prue: Yeah! (Laughing) Since you are reminding yourself, did you bring the necessary first aid and everything?
Piper: Don’t worry. That has been the first thing on my mind since we agreed upon the trekking idea.
Prue: I know you will take care of such things. You have always inherited mum’s sense of safeties.
Piper: Not much of a choice with a bouncing sister around.
Prue: Ya, you are so ever right.
(The two sisters continued to make small talks until Phoebe came down to join them for breakfast. They chatted, laughed and teased one another mercilessly. They exchanged plans of what to do after they have nicely pitched up the tents, who would be responsible for whatever they have to do at the campsite without the proper help offered by their ever so warming manor. But no matter how they planned, Prue refused to let her younger sisters alone by themselves, and the younger ones refused to let the older one engaged in too many of the chores since she is the one about to celebrate her special day. After some usual sisterly bickering and light-mood arguments, they reached a compromise, not one of them will leave their campsite without the approval from the other two. Not one of them will risk themselves doing some dangerous act. Prue had especially emphasized it at Phoebe’s direction. And lastly, not one of them will use their powers unless it was a demon or warlock call. They decided spontaneously that since it was meant to be a sisterly outing, it should be left as a normal fun one, than to let some abnormality force at work to aid them in their adventure. Soon, with breakfast in digestive mode, manor locked up, the three sisters in their denim attire had loaded their belongings onto Piper’s jeep, and after hopping into the car, Piper had it carefully steered out of their driveway, towards their ‘demon’ free vacation.)
(Scene: Some quarter day of driving later, Piper somehow glad to have survive the din in the car caused by the oldest and youngest. As usual, all conversation were mixed with Prue’s strong-headed feelings and Phoebe’s free-spirited attitude. There was the common argument and tongue fighting but all ended in a jovial note with Phoebe latching onto Prue at times during the drive from behind the seat. Piper had specially requested Phoebe’s warmth to be put on hold for her in case her driving was distracted. Finally by mid-noon, the trio had their backpacks on back, with Prue and Piper carrying another between them and Phoebe trailing behind, they started on the path that was to cut through vast areas of trees and trees. The place has been a popular spot for fun and serious trekking, they knew it from the sight of several vehicles already parked in place. Prue had exclaimed that at other times, the traffic would be heavier and one could actually camped just beside a family of strangers. The sisters moved along the path that was getting uneven with tree stumps protruding visibly out threatening to trip anyone careless enough not to notice. Piper turned around looking at Phoebe and saw her still munching the apple she started half an hour ago…)
Piper: Honey? Are you going to share that apple with the insect family of this place?
Prue (Turning around): Pheebs? If you can’t finish it, throw it away. Don’t hold onto it, you are attracting all the flies.
Phoebe (Taking a bite slowly and still looking sideway): Huh? Oh… Yeah, I’m eating.
Piper: What are you looking at?
Phoebe: Wow… look at this entire place! All flora and fauna! It’s so green and beautiful! Wonder why I never thought of coming here when I had the chance. Just smelling at the g…
Prue/Piper: Phoebe!
(The older ones saw the above surface stump where they have carefully stepped across earlier, but not the youngest one. They tried to warn her since she was not looking at where she was walking, but they too were engrossed in her chattering that the warning came too late. Halfway through the sentence, Phoebe felt something obstructed the on going of her foot when she hit it squarely on the stump. It happened so fast that she didn’t even screamed as she went down. The next second, Phoebe found herself sprawling on the ground chest down with her hands spread out in front. Though momentarily stunned, she was aware that her sisters were quickly by her side, trying to help her up.)
Piper: Did you hurt yourself?
Prue: Are you all right?
Piper: Told you to watch where you are walking.
Prue: You think there are warning signs about stumps?
Piper: Can you walk?
Prue: Have you sprained anything?
(By then, they have Phoebe standing up between them and were shoving away the dead leaves and stuffs from her clothing.)
Piper: Prue! Do you have to take the negative side of concern?
Prue: Like I got a choice. You took the positive one haven’t you?
Piper (Rolled her eyes): Oh boy… Pheebs? Will you say something?
Phoebe (Grinned sheepishly): Yeah… I’m ok. (Taking another bite at the apple on hand) At least the apple is safe.
(Prue and Piper chuckled seeing the way their sister grinned from one corner to the other. Despite a fall that could have dampened their camping trip if the landing wasn’t good but luckily it didn’t, Phoebe managed to ease her sisters’ worrying eyes by her way of speech as if nothing has happened at all.)
Piper: You sure you feel ok? That was a hard landing you took.
Phoebe: Yap! It sure feels better and less painful than the usual ones I took back at our special work.
Prue (Combing Phoebe’s hair with her hand): Glad that you’re fine. I can’t wait to see how my baby sister is like at a camping trip.
Phoebe: Not true. We went camping together before remember? When Grams sent us to this youth holiday program?
Piper: That was way too long Phoebe, what? 10 years ago?
Prue: Yeah. Now we have all grown up, this trip will definitely be different from the last time. At least I am in charge and I can take care of the both of you.
Piper: Corrections. It is Phoebe if you mean what you said. (Walked to where she left the bag when she hurried to Phoebe’s side in the first place.)
Phoebe: Hey! Take that back! I’m old enough to watch my own butt!
Prue (Joining Piper): Ya, ya, ya. You heard that Piper? Our little sister is finally an independent woman. Remember just a week ago when we vanquished that demon we caught sneaking around her college?
Piper: How can I forget that comical sight? Our independent sister lost her shoe during the chase and you have to piggy-carry her home, and at her insistent too.
Prue: And because the independent one is too embarrassed to depend on her shoeless foot to walk and she decided to depend on my back instead. I remembered the night before I was again depended upon to pack her bag but I’m not complaining. At least she is independent enough to carry her own bag now.
Piper: Wow! So she is really independent now! I’m impressed and happy that the depending days will be over soon.
Phoebe (Pouting her mouth): Hey! Did you guys pass your vocabulary test with flying colors before and on the same frequency too? Stop juggling with the word already. Ok, I accept it! I’m both depending and also with the ‘in’ link in front! You don’t have to taunt me each time I say I’m old enough to take care of myself!
(Phoebe sulked and walked passed her older sisters who grinned at each other having caught her weakest spot.)
Prue: Oops, our little princess is angry. (Singsong tone)
Piper: Un-oh, she sure is. (Sing-song tone too)
Phoebe (Turning around looking straight face at her sisters): I’m not.
Prue: You are, I bet.
Piper: Me too. (Showing her two fingers)
Phoebe: Serious guys, I’m not.
Prue: Are we sure Piper?
Piper (Shrugged her shoulders): Aren’t sure. She’s not smiling is she?
Phoebe: Ok, ok… how do I look now?
(Watching Phoebe grinned with a goofy look on her face, kneading her eyes into a line, the older sisters burst out laughing with the youngest one joining in and minutes later after a hearty laugh, they continued their trek further inland, taking in the greenery of their surroundings…)
(Minutes later, the trio came to an opening, a cliff joining to the opposite by just a bridge, and in between lies a rushing river of depth. The scene looked like a valley minus the mountain part. As the sisters crossed the bridge, it jerked and shook with each step they took. Phoebe found some amusement in that and she took it upon herself to walk with extra hard steps. Watching her sisters trying to balance in front, she laughed out loud to herself at their woozy way.)
Prue: Phoebe! You are going to break the ropes sooner or later and I hate to take a dip in that cold water below!
Piper: Pheebs! You wanna carry the bag!?
(Phoebe ignored the her sisters and continued having fun rocking the bridge.)
Prue/Piper (Stern looks): PHOEBE!!!
Phoebe (Laughing): Ok, ok, I’ll stop. What’s the matter with you guys? Can’t stand a little shaking here?
Prue: Its not funny sister! What if the ropes can’t handle your weight!?
Phoebe: I’m not the only one standing on it.
Piper: You are the only one with the fullest stomach!
Phoebe: As if I weigh a ton. (Saw her sisters answered with a knowing look) Hey! I know I eat a lot but I’m not that heavy!
Prue: Look how this bridge shakes under you!
Piper: Yeah, don’t pressurize it anymore!
Phoebe: All right! Just hurry on, before I change my mind.
(With that, the oldest two picked up the bag and carefully put their steps on the wooden planks bridge crossing it. They were glad that Phoebe has decided to continue gently behind them. On reaching the other side, Prue turned around and realized that her youngest sister was still in the middle of it looking down some 20 meters at the rushing water below.)
Prue (Shouting): Phoebe! What are you doing there?!
Phoebe (Shouted back): Just thinking!
Piper (To Prue): Oh god, this is bad if she ever says that Prue. Each time she thinks while looking hard at something, whatever she thinks has got to do with that thing.
Prue (To Piper): The water?
Piper: What else can you see under the bridge?
Prue (Signing): Stay here, I’ll go get her.
(Prue crossed the bridge to where her sisters was and stood by her side, looking at what she was staring at…)
Prue: Wanna tell me what are you thinking about?
Phoebe: You really wanna know?
Prue: You are engrossed, tell me.
Phoebe: I’m just wondering… (Voice trailing off)
Prue: What?
Phoebe: Do you think the water is deep enough for a swim?
Prue: Yes. A ranger ever told me that this river is not as shallow as you may think it to be. Why are you asking? Thinking of taking a dip?
Phoebe: No… more like will anyone challenge me to jump off right from this bridge to…
(Before she could finish, Prue grabbed hold of her collar and dragged her towards the other end where Piper was. In her anxiety to get themselves out of the bridge, Prue was stamping hard with each taken steps with Phoebe being pulled along clumsily behind. Piper saw the younger one protesting while the older one was wearing a determined look on her face. Despite that, she broke down laughing watching her two sisters swaying from side to side as the bridge rocked to their movement. Finally when they returned to her side, Phoebe broke off from Prue’s hold and the middle one knew that a reprimanding from the older one was imminent.)
Piper (Laughing): Oh my… what happened?
Phoebe (Protesting): Prue is bullying me!
Piper: Ya? (Laughing) Prue? Why did you do that for?
Prue: You won’t be laughing if you heard what she told me!
Piper (Laughing): I’m curious, what?
Prue: She was thinking of taking up a challenge to jump off the bridge!
(At that moment, Piper stopped laughing and looked hard from Prue to Phoebe.)
Piper: What!! Why will you ever think of that Phoebe?!
Phoebe: Oh my… (Knowing what was to come next from Piper)
Piper: You know how high is from the bridge to the water below? What happen if you hurt yourself? Or to be carried away by the currents if it is stronger than you expected? Phoebe! You are letting me growing more white hair to just worry about you! You want that!!
Phoebe: Calm down Piper sis! I didn’t say I am going to jump! I was only thinking about it. Believe me, I’m not a fool to take up such a challenge.
Piper: You’re not?
Phoebe (Smiling): Of course I’m not. Prue exaggerated it. I was only trying to scare her.
Prue: You what?!
Phoebe (Grinning): Come on guys! It’s supposed to be a fun outing right? Let’s just enjoy ourselves shall we? Here Piper, let me help you with the bag.
(Phoebe took a strap of the bag and with Piper, they continued the trekking inwards with Prue following behind, having every possible intention to tie the youngest up to a pole and carrying it with her on her shoulder…)
(A small opening surrounded by trees, a spot which signified past usage by other trekkers. After walking for quite some time, the sisters decided to set up camp there, at least according to Prue and her map in her head, there was vast areas to be explored in the vicinity and most important of all, the canopies of the trees did not entirely blocked out the whole sky. That would still enable the full use of her cell phone in case something emergency cropped up. With Prue pitching up the tent, Piper and Phoebe went off to look for ‘fuel’, broken branches to start a fire. The former carried a small kettle along to fill it with water from a nearby stream that Prue claimed was in existence. Along the way, Piper smiled as the ever so energetic Phoebe skipped along picking up sticks while humming a cheerful note. Soon they did stumble upon the stream and Piper marveled at the crystal clear water flowing gently by. Minutes later with kettle filled with water, the duo started the walk back to camp. Piper noted that the time was only approaching evening but darkness was quickly consuming every bit of light in that crown-covered place. Urging Phoebe along using Prue as a constant reminder, the two sisters almost reached camp when Phoebe stopped in her tracks claiming to hear something from beyond the tall bushes.)
Piper: What? I didn’t hear anything.
Phoebe: Shut down the connection to Leo and you will hear what I heard.
Piper (Hit out at her): Hey! I’m not!
Phoebe: Shhhh… you wanna frighten whatever is behind there?
Piper: If there is something other than your own imagination.
Phoebe (Pulling Piper along): Come on.
Piper (Grunting look): What do you expect to see? George of the Jungle?
Phoebe (Stood still for a second): Hey, not a bad idea Piper… to be seduced by a naked man swinging from branches. You think he will do everything the same way like those city guys?
Piper: Can you sort of minimize the category you are talking about? Everything as in what? Job? Handling women? And that will further break down into physical side or emotional feel.
Phoebe: How about both then? (Shot Piper a dirty look) That will equals some workout don’t you think so?
Piper (Returned the dirty look): Ohhh… you mean little thing! But good Phoebe! That’s a good kind of imagination though… Ha! Wonder Prue ever think about this situation before?
Phoebe: I bet more than us, the moment she stepped into this greenery. Don’t forget she was the one suggesting this camping idea in the first place.
(Suddenly both sisters stopped advancing. They looked at each other, the same thought connected.)
Piper/Phoebe: No…
Piper: She hasn’t been dating lately.
Phoebe: I think she is about to burst with lots of sexual emotion soon.
Piper (Chuckled): You think she picked this place to let her feelings run wild!?
Phoebe (Chuckled): Why not? She may not be the wild type yet but hey who knows? When it comes to sex, have you seen her in action?
Piper (Laughing and hitting Phoebe simultaneously): You’re bad sister! Wait till Prue heard about it and we are sharing one tent.
Phoebe: I’m not taking the middle part.
Piper: And risking squashed by you two!?
Phoebe: Please don’t let Prue…
(There was a low growl beyond the bushes where Piper and Phoebe should have reached it if they have not stopped and talked. Both had an alarming look on their faces and Piper even edged closer to Phoebe grabbing her arm. The latter could feel her sister’s breathe on her neck.)
Piper (Whispering): What’s that?
Phoebe (Whispering): I have no idea.
Piper (Whispering): I think we better go back to Prue.
Phoebe (Whispering): I’m not arguing here.
(Just as Piper and Phoebe were about to turn around and retraced their steps, out from the tall bushes emerged a bear cub. At that moment, the mammals on both side seemed to be checking out one another in silence. When Phoebe was sure it is harmless, she took a step forward but Piper held on to her firmly.)
Phoebe: Its ok Piper. Look! It’s so cute!
Piper: Right. But when its mama comes along, I will rather opt for another word. ‘Ferocious’ will be much better.
Phoebe: Awww… come on. It’s only a cub, besides if it has company, we waited long enough for it to make some appearance but apparently there’s none.
Piper: Pheebs, I don’t like this. Animals do have their own instinct. The parents will know if their young ones are in trouble…
Phoebe: Piper! You are sounding more like Prue already and it’s only a touch.
Piper: No.
Phoebe: A touch and I will leave it alone, please?
(Piper looked at Phoebe as she pleaded genuinely. Before she could answer however, something else moved at the corner of her eyes and then she saw it. In fact she left the announcement to the sudden intruder herself and pulled Phoebe along… The latter was about to protest when she heard the loud growling. Turning back, she saw to her shock a huge bear looming after them, fortunately in slow steps. She needs no pulling. Picking up speed, she surpassed Piper easily, reached out her hand and pulled Piper along instead, both screaming out loudly for help. Who should come along in their path but Prue. Hearing her sisters’ screams, she hurried to the source and was glad that she has taken the initiative to go searching for them when they were 10 minutes gone. She saw her sisters running towards her but was shocked at the sight of a bear close behind them. Mind turning fast, Prue narrowed her eyes, waved her hand and several branches of large sizes came crashing towards the bear obstructing its way, some hitting it too. Momentarily stunned, the bear lingered around in a disoriented manner before finally decided to make a retreat. In the meanwhile, Piper and Phoebe had reached Prue’s side and both darted behind her back peering out just over her shoulders…)
Phoebe: Way to go Prue! You beat a bear! Wow! You defeated the bear!
Piper (Sensing Prue’s anger rising): Err… Pheebs?
Phoebe: Did you see that Piper? That bear was frightened of Prue our sister! HA!
Piper (Scratching her hair uneasily): Ya, you right. Now it’s our turn.
Phoebe: Huh? What do you mean? (Finally saw Prue’s look) Oops… did we just screw up?
Piper: I didn’t, you did.
Phoebe (Suddenly remembering something): Hey Prue! I thought we aren’t supposed to use our powers as agreement?
Prue (Widening eyes): Hey Pheebs! I thought I used it for a good reason! I saved your pathetic butt remember?!!
Phoebe (Grinned): Oh… right… guess that’s excusable huh?
Prue: Tell me what just happened?!! (Piper and Phoebe cringed at Prue’s tone) You were supposed to fetch a pail of water and you decided to play nanny fetching back a bear which is capable to take care of itself?!!
Phoebe: We didn’t know it was hiding behind those bushes.
Piper: Right. It appeared so suddenly and we have no idea what provoked it.
Phoebe: Ya. All I want to do is to stroke the cub…
Prue: There is a CUB!?
Piper: Oh god…Phoebe, Phoebe. (Shaking her head)
Prue: There is a cub before the big one Piper?
Phoebe: What’s wrong with that? Mother and child taking a walk in the wilderness, I don’t see why it can upset you that much Prue?
Prue: Piper! Why did you…
Piper: Ok! It’s my fault! How am I suppose to really know that the bear will attack when Phoebe didn’t actually touch it yet?! And why should I take the blame when she was the one suggesting a detour?!
Phoebe: Hey! I admit I persuaded you but you didn’t do better in dissuading me either!
Piper: What! Are you saying that I’m absolutely worthless in talking out of whatever stupid thing you have in your head?!
Phoebe: Yes!… I mean no! And do reverse that record of yours that whatever I do may not be the smartest thing but it sure isn’t any stupid either!
Piper: Right! How about trying to touch a cub knowing fully well the rules of surviving in a wild?!
Phoebe: Well! If you haven’t been hesitating, I will have touched it and we would be long gone even before the bigger bear made its grand entrance!!
Piper: If I haven’t pulled you along, you would be pinned under the bear’s leap!
Phoebe: Say that for yourself!
Prue (Putting up her hands): Whoa! Whoa! Stop it! Calm down now my sisters! Its ok! Everything is over now, you are both fine, the bear is gone and the episode will not repeat again. Let’s not dampened our camping mood here shall we? Remember, you guys are celebrating my birthday so don’t let me feel bad on my special day ok?
(Piper and Phoebe looked at each other…)
Piper: So you are not angry with us anymore?
Prue: Nope. Not anymore honey.
Phoebe: So can we get back to camp and start cooking for dinner?
Prue (Smiling): Sure baby. Anytime both of you decide to start walking.
(At that moment, Piper walked up to Phoebe, put her arm across her shoulders with Phoebe’s around her waist.)
Piper: Pheebs honey, what do you want for dinner?
Phoebe: Anything from you Piper sis. Whatever you cook, I drool.
Piper (Laughing): How about chicken soup, your favorite?
Phoebe: Do you spot a wild chicken running around?
Piper: I’m smart to bring along a few cans.
Phoebe (Clapping hands): Good! Soup minus the gloss part. Love you Piper. (Kissed her on her cheek)
(Watching both her sisters linking so comfortably, Prue stood there for a moment trying to comprehend what she just heard and saw. Finally, she trailed along behind shaking her head…)
Prue (Thinking aloud): That is one great act both of them put up! Prue, oh Prue! They have you con!!
(Put up her hands in a surrender way.)
(After dinner and the clearing up part, the sisters sat by the campfire and started chatting. The trio just wanted to get nice and cozy after the half-day drive and the couple of hours of walking through the lash green forest. The bear incident forgot, they teased each other with stories of guys encounters, their embarrassing moments and the issue that never fails to warm their hearts – mom and Grams.)
Piper: Pheebs? You remembered the time when you were three and I was six? My first day at grade one?
Phoebe (Scratching her head looking missing): Too young. What about it?
Piper: Your small hand was locking onto my jeans refusing to let go, crying with those sad eyes and Grams had to coax and lie to make you let go.
Phoebe (Smiling): Ya… can you blame me? Both of you were at school and I kinda feel like an abandon one.
Prue (Wrapping her arms around the youngest): Honey, we will never feel that way towards you. You have always light up my life… in a very wild way though.
Phoebe (Hitting out at her): Prue! Do you have to remind me of my wayward life? Again? (Sulking)
Prue: But it’s that part of your life that landed you in trouble all the time. And if I haven’t come to your rescue all these times… I will never know that my love for you is actually so strong… so much.
(Phoebe took every precious moment to taste and savor Prue’s heart-warming words. She buried herself into Prue’s chest and held her tight, moving along with each breath she took and listening hard at the comforting thumping of her heart. Piper knew that was a special moment between her two sisters and she made no effort to join in.)
Piper: When Prue broke her arm, I remembered it was Phoebe who cried the most.
Prue (Laughing): Right. She even refused to let the nurse put the cast on my arm, thinking that she was going to give me more pain.
Phoebe: Hey! I was only 5 years old then! That was the first time I seen plaster cast being put on people! It was awful!
Piper: I agree. But wow, you screamed the loudest when they took it off too.
Phoebe (Pouting her mouth): God knows why they have to take off the cast like that. It was scary…
Prue (Hugging her sister tighter): First, it was awful. Then, it was scary. What else Phoebe?
(Phoebe slipped down from the log she was sitting and eased herself between Prue’s legs who was still sitting on the log. She wrapped her arms around her legs each while Prue crossed her arms in front of her pulling her closer. Piper lost no time in capturing that sisterly moment. Grabbing the automatic camera from the tent, she snapped a few pictures of her sisters in close bonding.)
Prue: Come here Piper, sit with me.
(Obediently, Piper sat beside Prue and laid her head on her shoulders. She had one of her hands locked with Phoebe’s. There was a moment of silence…)
Phoebe: Although I don’t remember much… but I sure do miss mum with every passing year I grow up.
Piper: I miss her too.
Prue: Make me three.
(Silence…)
Phoebe: Prue?
Prue: Sweetie?
Phoebe: Can you tell me again about mum’s little things?
Piper: Ya Prue, tell us again.
(Prue took a deep breath, closed her eyes and projected her memories back to more than 20 years in time, the time when their mother was still alive. Prue cannot remember how many times she has been doing the story telling but it didn’t matter as each time, it always managed to calm both her sisters in any kind of a situation. Right then, she knew it was the best time to recapture the past and lost moments. Stroking Phoebe’s hair with one hand and rubbing Piper’s back with another, she started telling them how Patty had taught the older ones to change diaper for the newborn, how to make milk and feed the bottle to the ever hungry youngest one. Prue reminded them of the time when mother and daughters shared a bath together. It was always fun although quick putting the youngest one in consideration since she was barely a year old then. Prue reopened Piper’s memory of the time they rejoiced watching Phoebe took her first baby steps, calling their names in the weirdest way and coming to their rooms when she was more capable of walking, screaming at their ears waking them up. Patty was always there with the most beautiful smile, proud of her daughters’ close bond and gratitude to whatever that perceived her to have them. Prue went on reviving the few but precious moments of mother and daughters playing hide-and-seek in the manor. It wasn’t fun when they were hiding as little Phoebe would always led her mother in her 18 months old footsteps to where her siblings were hiding after watching them running at high speed to their hideout totally ignoring her. It was easier when one of them do the seeking, as little Phoebe again would expose whichever person she was hiding with her ever-exciting screams and laughter… Prue was glad that both her sisters were laughing along although they have heard it for the umpteen times. There was yet another moment of silence as Prue kissed Piper on her forehead while Phoebe who was holding each sisters’ hand, laid her head on Prue’s thigh.)
Piper (Slipping down beside Phoebe): Phoebe… come here.
(Quietly, Phoebe went into Piper’s hold and Prue wrapped her arms around both sisters, soothing the youngest hurt feelings, and being strong to the middle one as she displayed her brave side to yet the younger one too…)
Piper (Saw the time on her watch): Hey! It’s coming to 12 soon!
Phoebe (Liven up): Yeah!? Great! I’ll get the cake and candles!
Piper: I’ll reload the camera!
Prue (Laughing): And I’ll… wait just right here.
(Moments later, Phoebe with cake on both hands, on top of which were lighted candles. Piper armed and ready with the portable camera and Prue was smiling widely. The younger ones sang the birthday song, followed by Prue making her wish, blowing off candles and taking pictures. The sisters decided not to get formal in cake cutting, so they just dug in using their fingers, feeding one another and leaving some on the faces each time intentionally. Just like what Piper had anticipated, the small cake was finished in no time and mostly devoured by Phoebe. The trio with a torch each went down to the stream again, took a wash before returning to the tent, snuggling together and finally falling asleep, shutting off the lights in their heads…)
(Morning break… Piper has gotten up early and had waken Phoebe for company to the stream for a kettle of fresh water. She has managed to drag her sister out of the tent without waking up the older one. The younger one has been protesting with her half-opened eyes. As they walked towards the stream, Piper had to giggle at the way Phoebe walked and looked, feet literally sweeping along with the soil on the ground, shoulders hunched forward, eyes barely opened with the toothbrush stuck halfway out from her mouth, her way to hold with a lazy mind. Minutes after a washing up, Phoebe looked more alive and ready to start a brand new day, a day of fun as celebration mood hung in the air. Holding the kettle in one hand, Piper had to hold onto her sister’s hand as they returned to camp, fearing that she might run astray again with another bear. Barely halfway through the journey, Phoebe stopped and jerked her hand at Piper to let her know of her intention. Turning around, Piper saw Phoebe looking sideway at a hill nearby. The hill looked at least 15 meters high, a gentle slope at base, rocky and straight up to the top that marked a higher land of the trekking zone.)
Piper: Pheebs? What are you looking at? Again?
Phoebe (Pointed higher up): Look! There are some pretty flowers up there.
(Piper followed Phoebe’s gaze. True enough, there was a few stalks of yellow flowers growing from between some rocks, probably the seeds were carried there by the wind, planted itself between the holes and further nurtured by the minimal soil and water the gap in the rock allowed. Aided by the rays of sunlight penetrating through the partially dense canopies, dew drops on the petals sparkled and bathed in that bright light further enhancing it’s beauty.)
Phoebe: Any idea what’s the name?
Piper: Wild flower?
Phoebe: Like you did answer.
Piper: Like I should know. One thing for sure, that is one ingredient not for my recipe.
Phoebe (Rubbing her hands on her jeans): Guess it’s up to mighty me to find out.
(Phoebe took a few steps forward when Piper stopped her.)
Piper: Err… Pheebs? Just what do you think you are about to do?
Phoebe: What do I think? Of course I’m about to climb this hill. You think the flowers will abide to my calling?
Piper: No, no, no honey. You are not going to do any thing silly here.
Phoebe: You are right, I am not. I’m just going very quickly up there, grab the flowers, come back down to earth and back to the tent. How’s that?
Piper: No way am I letting you do this. You forgot Prue’s outburst yesterday over the bear thing?
Phoebe: Exactly. I want to get those pretty flowers just for her, to make up for our mistake.
Piper: Your mistake.
Phoebe: Whatever and besides, it’s her birthday and we have nothing to give her.
Piper: We already did remember? We came on this trip.
Phoebe: Nah… we will give her a better one. Right from our heart.
Piper (Pleading tone): Come on Pheebs, Prue will be mad at us if she knows about it.
Phoebe: No she won’t.
Piper: How do you know? (Following Phoebe to the slope)
Phoebe: Cause she is still snoring and if you don’t tell and I won’t, how will she knows?
Piper: How do you explain the presence of those flowers then?
Phoebe: You said it yourself, they are wild flowers. We picked them on the wild side.
Piper (Watched as Phoebe started up the slope): Ok, since it is between us, why not use your powers? Prue will never know right? And I’ll not tell on you, I promise.
Phoebe: Nope! I want to get it the original way.
Piper (Rolled her eyes in defeat): Damned! Why am I letting you into my head?
Phoebe (Stepping firmly on upper rocks): Cause I have a glib tongue?
A better sense of twisting your mind? (Turned her head to look at Piper) See? No sweat!
(Just as she said that, some rocks came loose under her left foot and she nearly slipped had she not a firm hold on the rocks ahead. Piper hadn’t screamed when she saw the dangerous situation Phoebe nearly got herself into. She simply covered her mouth with her hand feeling the color draining from her face, wishing hard that her sister will forget about the flower plucking, she didn’t.)
Piper (Serious tone): Pheebs! Whatever you do, just concentrate on getting the flowers. Don’t even think about turning your head now, do you hear me?
Phoebe: Yeah! Copy that!
Piper (Mumbling to herself): Gosh… Prue will freak if she saw ‘Georgina on the climb’. (Then she chuckled to herself) What an opposite version to the ‘George of the Jungle’.
(Finally after what seemed eternity, Phoebe had her left hand firmly locked on a few stalks of the yellow flowers and gave it several hard yanks before they came loose.)
Phoebe: I got it! I got it! I got the flowers Piper!
Piper (Signing): Yeah, I heard you three times in a row Pheebs or was it an echo. (Hissing now) Will you get your butt down here now?! And carefully?! Slowly?!
Phoebe (Jovial tone): Sure!
Piper (Mumbling tone): Great! All done before Prue even knows.
(Suddenly, she felt a tap on her shoulder. Spinning around, she was horrified to find a stony face Prue looking straight into her eyes. She was about to yell out loudly when Prue clamped her hand over her mouth and the other one to her own, indicating that she has to keep quiet. Piper understood her intention. If she reacted openly, Phoebe’s attention might be distracted and the consequence might be disastrous. Looking at Prue who was flashing the ‘Ha, I caught both of you in the act again’ look, Piper betrayed her helplessness and shrugged her shoulders returning Prue the ‘Oops, that’s our sister we are living with’ look. Just then, a voice interrupted the older sisters’ thoughts…)
Phoebe (Descending slowly): Piper? How do you think Prue will react? Grinning widely, jumping for joy and accidentally slipped breaking both her front teeth?
Piper (Shot a look at Prue who was tracing every Phoebe’s sing
