Piper Halliwell gazed out of her bedroom window at the cold, and gloomy sky of San Francisco. 'The story of my life' Piper thought to herself, taking a sip of her drink. These late night drinks had become a habit ever since Leo had suddenly disappeared three weeks ago. It was so strange how everything in her life was upside-down, nothing was ever like it seemed. These days Piper didn't know who trust, who to love, or who to hate. Her and her sisters had been fighting the demons of San Francisco for nearly three years now, and ever since then, Piper's life had been everything but peaceful, and normal. Normality was something that Piper knew she could never have, but always wanted. Phoebe and Prue had always thought of witchcraft as a gift, a gift they were meant to have. Whereas Piper most often thought of these damn powers of her a curse, something she never asked for, and something she never really wanted.
"She's drinking you know" Phoebe Halliwell mentioned as she appeared in Prue's doorway. "Who's drinking?" Prue asked, digging through his drawers, searching for something to wear. "Piper" Phoebe mumbled. Prue stopped immediately, and glared at her sister. Ever since Leo had sudden;y disappeared, she had had her suspicions of Piper drinking. But that's all they were, suspicions, backed by no evidence, nothing to prove that her little sister was developing a problem, a problem Prue didn't know how to fix. "How do you know?" Prue asked, approaching her baby sister. Phoebe crossed her arms over her chest, and sighed. "I---I--uh found an empty vodka bottle in the trash can." Phoebe said softly. Prue sighed, and rubbed her temples. This could not be happening. Why did it seem like everything horrible happened to Piper? Why did bad things happen to good people? And where the hell was Leo?
Piper glanced at her watch, and sighed. "Damn it, I'm late" she mumbled as she rushed into her nightclub, P3. She stopped, and looked around, taking a minute to prepare herself for yet another day. A day without Leo. She took a deep breath, and set her stuff on the bar, and walked around to the other side. She grabbed a glass, and a bottle half full of scotch. She took a deep breath, and gulp the contents down, letting it burn her throat on the way down. "Piper?" Prue called, walking down the stairs to the club. Piper quickly hid her glass under the bar, and composed herself. "Yeah, what's up?" Piper asked. Prue walked over to the bar, and sat down. "Nothin, just wanted to come see how you were doing." Prue replied. Piper smiled slightly, and looked down, smoothing out the wrinkles in her shirt. Prue sighed, and looked away. "I know," she said softly. Piper looked at her. "Know what," she asked, putting on the "act dumb" routine. Prue picked at her finger, this was not a conversation she wanted to have. "I know you've been drinking," she replied. Piper sighed, and looked away. "Pheebs found an empty bottle of vodka in the trash can this morning." Prue continued. Piper started to walk back to her office. "I don't want to talk about this right now," she said. Prue stood up, and followed her, she caught up with her, and grabbed her arm. "Piper stop, we have to talk about this, you have a problem. Phoebe and I just want to help you." Piper turned around, and yanked her arm back. Prue noticed the tears of pain in her sisters eyes."I don't need your help." She said, jerking her arm away, walking back to her office, and slamming the door behind her. Prue sighed. Piper was enveloped in more pain, than Prue knew.
"Well, where the hell is she? And what the hell did you stay to her?" Phoebe exclaimed, throwing her arms up. Prue sighed, and grabbed her keys. "I dunno where she went, and I didn't say much, I just mentioned her drinking problem," she answered. Phoebe sighed, and grabbed her coat. " We gotta find her," she said. The phone rang, and both girls stared at each other secretly knowing it was Piper. Prue dropped her things, and ran to the phone. "Piper?" she answered. "Uh no, are you relatives of Miss Halliwell?" the voice on the other asked. Prue ran a hand through her shiny black hair. "Uh, yes this is her sister, why what happened?" she asked, panic running through her voice. "Miss Halliwell has been in a car accident," the woman replied. Prue froze. "Uh....where is she? Is she OK?" Prue asked. "She's at San Francisco Memorial, you should come right away," and that was that, the voice on the other end was gone, and Prue was left with her own assumptions. "Prue what is it, what's wrong?" Phoebe asked, shaking her sister a little. Prue sighed, and looked into her baby sister's eyes. "Piper's been in a car accident."
"Piper's has suffered from two broken ribs, a broken arm, and a massive head injury. We stopped the bleeding, and stitched it up." Piper's doctor informed Prue, and Piper. Prue kept wracking her brain of about a million ways Piper could have crashed her car. "Is she going to be OK?" Phoebe asked, choking back her tears. The doctor looked down. "I'm not going to lie to you girls, your sister has lot of blood, there's no telling if she'll even wake up," he explained. Prue closed her eyes, she could feel the tears forming. 'Not now' she thought to herself. She knew she had to be strong, for Piper, and Phoebe's sake. "Can we see her?" She asked. The doctor nodded, and led them into a room, a quiet, and clean room. Piper lay in a bed, motionless, and quite pale. 'Oh God' Prue thought as she and Phoebe walked over to the bed. Piper looked worse than either of them could ever imagine. Her hair lay matted to her head, her face white as a ghost, and tubes stuck in and out of her body, leading to God knows where. Prue looked around through tear filled eyes. "Piper, what have you done?"
It had been a week and a half since Piper's accident, and Piper still hadn't opened her eyes. Prue and Phoebe were at her bedside everyday, talking to her, holding her hand, reading to her, anything they thought would help they did it. Darryl dealt with all of the accident paperwork, and statements, anything he could do to help, he did it. Leo of course was nowhere to be found, and the surprised both Prue, and Phoebe. It seemed like Leo always came calling whenever he knew Piper was in dire need of his help, or guidance. This was more than a dire need, it was a necessity. And the fact that he wasn't there when Piper needed him the most worried Prue, and Phoebe even more, they both knew that this meant that something was wrong, Leo needed help. "Maybe we should summon him or something." Phoebe suggested. Prue nodded a little, her gazed fixed on Piper's pale face. "Yeah but how, I mean the only way we know how to summon him is by calling his name, and Piper's already tried that." Prue said. She could feel herself wracking her brain for clues, or ideas on how they could get Leo back, and help Piper. But overtime she got an idea, it always disappeared, the only way Piper would come around was if Leo came to her.
"Piper....Piper, wake up." Piper opened her eyes slowly to the sound of a familiar voice, a voice she had longed to hear for the longest time. Piper sat up, and looked around. "Leo?" she called. Leo appeared before her. He smiled warmly. "I'm right here," he said, quickly pulling her into his arms. Piper cried tears of joy. "I missed you so much, I thought I'd never see you again," she sobbed. Leo planted a soft kiss on her forehead. "Shhhhhhh, everything's OK now, I'm here. I'll never leave you. I promise." Piper smiled a little, and looked around, becoming aware of her surroundings. "Leo, where are we? Where are my sisters," she asked? Leo put her down, and looked into her eyes. "I brought you here, I needed to tell you something, something important. Piper I can't come back to you unless you get help, unless you wake up, and clean yourself up," he explained, running his fingers through her beautiful long brown hair. Piper's smile quickly faded. She didn't understand, she didn't remember what had happened to her. "Leo, you're scaring what are you talking about?" she asked, getting panicked. Leo silenced her with a kiss. "Piper you were in a car accident. You're in the hospital with Prue and Phoebe by your side. If you don't wake up, we may never see each other again. Now, I need you to find the strength, I need you to wake up, save yourself, save me, save us."
Piper moaned, the reality of the world was coming into focus. "What happened?" she mumbled, rubbing her eyes. Prue, and Phoebe shot up. "You were in a car accident sweetie, you've been out for nearly two weeks." Prue explained. "I was drinking." Piper said. "When I got in the car, I wasn't drunk, I swear," she said, looking around. How did it come to this? Why had this all been handed to her? Phoebe nodded. "We know sweetie, we know, everything's going to be OK." she assured. "Where's Leo?" Piper asked. Prue and Phoebe exchanged puzzled looks. "Leo? Piper Leo hasn't been around in a month, he disappeared." Prue explained. Piper blinked long, and hard, and shook her head. "No, that's not true, he was with me, he told me to wake up. He said if I didn't that we could never see each other again." Piper said, tears started to fill her eyes. Was he really gone? Was he gone forever? "I'm right here." Leo said, standing in the doorway. Piper's tears, and gloomy face quickly faded at the sight of him. "I told you everything would be OK."
