Phoebe Halliwell wanted to throw her alarm clock out of the window when it went off on a early school morning. Groaning, she reached over and shut off the blaring noise. “Just a couple more weeks of this, then it’s summer.” She said to herself. She sat up and stretched. It was beautiful May morning with the sun shining through Phoebe’s window. Phoebe reluctantly got out of bed and made her way to the bathroom. She shrieked as she stepped into the shower when the cold water hit her skin. “Just ONE day, can’t I at least get a hot shower?”

After getting dressed, Phoebe went downstairs into the kitchen. Her sisters were already getting ready to go. “Good morning.” She said.

“Hey Phoebs, I’m running late we got to go now.” Piper said as she threw a breakfast bar at Phoebe. “Sorry, but I didn’t have time to make breakfast, that’s the best I can do.” Phoebe looked at the bar and frowned.

“Oh well, Prue are you running late too?” She asked surprised. She was a little confused on why both of her sisters were running late. They were the most punctual people she knew. She was the one always running late, not her sisters.

“Yeah I guess my mind is somewhere else. I gotta go.” With that Prue was out the door.

“What’s up with her?” Phoebe asked Piper.

“I don’t know but we gotta go now.” Piper picked up her things and made her way outside.

“Oookay.” Phoebe grabbed her bag and followed Piper outside. She got into the passenger seat of the car as Piper turned the ignition. “Is something wrong?” She asked Piper as they made their way to their school. Phoebe had no idea why her sisters were acting so strange.

“No nothing’s wrong.” Phoebe let it go for now. Piper pulled up to their high school and stopped the car. “I have a meeting after school, do you think you can get a ride home with one of your friends?”

“Yeah sure.” Piper got out of the car and made her way to her first class. Phoebe shook her head with confusion and proceeded to her own class. On her way she caught up with one of her friends. “Hey Rachel.” Her friend turned around and waited for Phoebe to walk beside her.

“Hey what’s up?”

“Oh nothing much, it is too good of a day for school.”

“Oh I know what you mean.” They began walking to their lockers.

“So what are you doing this weekend? Do you want to catch a movie or something?” Phoebe asked.

“Actually me and my family are taking my mom out to dinner. We’re going to pamper her all weekend.”

“Oh, that’s cool. Is it her birthday?” Rachel stopped short thinking of the next thing to say. Phoebe was confused. “What?”

“No, it’s for um, Mother’s Day.” Rachel knew that it was a sensitive subject around Phoebe considering her mom died when she was so young.

Realization hit Phoebe. “Oh yeah, that’s this weekend isn’t it?” Maybe that’s why Prue and Piper were acting weird, she thought. Phoebe completely forgot about Mother’s Day. She never actually celebrated one so every year when it came, she forgot about it.

Rachel was a little nervous on how Phoebe would react. “Yeah but we can do something next weekend.” Phoebe gave her a half smile. She loved her friends and she knew that they never wanted her to feel bad.

“It’s ok Rachel.” The bell rang and they went to class. Phoebe was beginning to feel sad as she heard the other kids in her class talking about what they’re planning for their mom. Phoebe missed her mom so much and she wondered what it was like if she could at least celebrated one Mother’s Day with her mom.

When Phoebe got home, she went up to her room. Her sisters weren’t home yet and she was kind of thankful for that. Phoebe sat on her bed and stared out the window. The sun was still shining bright but Phoebe could only see clouds. “I think it gets harder every year missing you.” Phoebe sighed. She took out her journal and began writing. She didn’t know what, but she just needed to write. She hadn’t noticed the tears that were falling on her journal. She finally picked up her pen and reread what she just wrote. Phoebe heard one of her sisters come home and go to their room. Phoebe got up and went to see which sister has just gotten home. She was a little disappointed when she realized it was Prue. She needed to talk to someone and Prue and her never actually talked. Especially now, Phoebe needed to talk about her mom.

Taking the risk of being rejected, Phoebe made her way to Prue’s door. She lifted her hand and knocked on it.

“Who is it?”

“It’s me, can I come in?”

“Phoebe, I really just want to be alone right now.” Phoebe could hear the annoyance in her voice. If it was Piper, she would have let her in. Phoebe took a deep breath and asked again.

“Please Prue, I really need to talk to someone.” Prue got up and went to her door. She could hear the sadness in Phoebe’s voice. She opened the door and looked at her sister. Prue saw that Phoebe had been crying.

“Phoebe, what’s wrong? What happened?” Prue took Phoebe by the hand and led her to her bed.

“I didn’t mean to bother you, I just needed to talk someone.” The tears came again.

“Phoebe what is it?”

“It’s just, well it’s because of you know, this weekend.” Prue understood what she meant.

“Yeah I know, it’s hard.”

“No Prue, I forgot about it. How could I forget about it?” Prue fought the tears that threatened to come. She hated seeing her sister so sad. Prue put her arms around her and pulled her into a hug.

“Sweetie it’s ok you forgot, you didn’t even get a chance to celebrate it with her.”

“I know Prue but I really want to. I really miss her.”

“I know, I miss her too.” Prue rubbed Phoebe’s back giving her the comfort she needed. Prue waited until Phoebe calmed down a little. “Hey I have an idea. When Piper gets home, how about the three of us do something special for mom. Would you like that?” Phoebe looked up at Prue and into her eyes.

“Do you think mom would like that?”

“I think mom would love it.” She smiled at Phoebe and kissed her on the forehead. Phoebe hugged Prue and buried her face into her neck.

“I love you, Prue.”

When Piper got home, the sisters went to the cemetery. They walked the path that led to their mother’s resting place. Each of the sisters placed a pink rose on the gravestone.

“Happy Mother’s Day, mom.” Prue and Piper took Phoebe’s hand and made their way back to the car. “Wait.” Phoebe went back and took something out of her pocket. She placed a piece of paper down by her mom’s grave. “I miss you mom.” The wind blew the paper and opened it and Phoebe’s words were heard by her mom.

I know that you aren’t here
But somehow I feel you
I know you can see me
But why cant I see you

I know you can hear me
But I cant hear your voice
I know you are watching
And I know it wasn’t your choice

Is it possible to miss someone you barely knew
I think it’s true
Because I always miss you
I wish you were here
I miss you

I know that you cant change the past
But I wish I can
So I can go back
And make those moments last.

Is it possible to miss someone you barely knew
I think it’s true
Because I always miss you
I wish you were here
I miss you

I wish that day was all a lie
I wish I had the chance say
Goodbye. Goodbye

And I know that I always remember you
You’re in my heart
I miss you
