I stagger out on stage, half asleep, coffee cup in one hand. Flopping down into my overstuffed recliner, I look up
"Roll the intro"
"For two years, she has been tramutizing us with her stories, or is that tantalizing? Now lets find out what maked her tick. Straight from Canada, its Di."
Adri: Welcome lil sis, glad you could join me today. How are you?
Di: I’m am good. glad I could make it though. I thought maybe the Fog would stop me from making it
Adri: Can you please tell the viewers, how old are you, and where you are from?
Di: You want my real age, or what I feel most of the time? Kidding.. I'm 34, Though i feel more like 4 at times. And I'm from BC, Canada.
Adri: Can you tell us a little about yourself, family wise?
Di: Ok. I am the youngest of three kids, and the only girl. We are all pretty close though my brothers and I did go through the Growing Pains of siblings. I lost my grandparents when I was very young. but I have always had others i could count on for that role. My family has always been close though and still are.
Adri: What do you do for work, and what makes it interesting for you?
Di: OooooHHH...... Well I'm a Front Office Manager at a hotel. In a VERY busy part of town. What makes it interesting? Well where I am it is probably the number two., if not number one now, tourist destination in Canada. So I’ve meet a great deal of people from other cities and other countries. I used to travel alot when I was younger and that was one thing that I really liked, meeting people from different place. There is also the adrenaline rush when you are selling rooms for ridiculous prices. But that is something I only get a few weeks of the year to do
Adri: What do you like to do in your free time? What are your hobbies and interests?
Di: Hmm free time. Did I just mention I was a Manager at a hotel in a major tourist town? mostly in my free time I tend to write fictions, if I'm not writing them then I like to think of my next plot. But I also don’t mind sitting outside with a good book. But it depends on the time of year. I also don't mind going for a bike ride along the coast in the summer months. Hobbies and Interests. I would have to say Skiing, baseball and traveling.
Adri: If you were to describe your personality, what would it be?
Di: Well actually that’s one I always hate. and I think it's because my answers usually shock a few people.. The one thing in my personality is that I'm shy. always have been. I remember as a lil girl hiding around my mum even with people I knew. But on that I am also outgoing once I do get to know you. you should know big sis. Look at us in the spring. Once I build a friendship I am VERY hard to get rid of and I am very true to that friend
Adri: What is the most outrages thing you have ever done?
Di: You mean besides ripping off tourists in the summer? Hmm. that would probably be in my last year of college. See my parents live up near the ski hill in the area and every weekend we would go up there and go skiing. Well there was always about six of us that hung out together, three guys three girls. Well one year we decided to have the four hours race home. Well this one time the night before we decided to order pizza in true college fashion, to much, so half way home the guys were ahead of us but we were catching up, as we passed them we started a conversation through the windows.
They were hungry and they wanted the left over pizza that we had.. So instead of being reasonable and pulling over we took what we needed and passed it to them. Yes we past it to them from me, while driving over to their also moving car. and we were not exactly doing country driving speed.
We were going down highway doing about 80 KMH. It was hilarious.. I remember seeing the looks on the people behind us.. What are those kids doing?
Adri: If you could do anything you wanted to, just once, what would it be?
Di: Honestly I have no idea. I mean I have to admit I was a bit spoiled as a kid and we got to travel a lot. so in terms of places to go that rules that out. I've parasailed. skiing off the side of a mountain what a rush that was. I think if I could DO anything I would some how talk to my friend Troy that was killed last August. Just to let him know how much he really meant to me. And get a chance to say goodbye. Other then that I don’t think there really is anything
Adri: Now for a few show related questions. How long have you been watching Charmed?
Di: From day one actually
Adri: You are a Phoebeholic, so to speak, what drew you to the character?
Di: Actually that’s kinda of funny. the one thing that drew to the show before it started wasn't even her. Its was Shannen and then her. But the one thing I think drew me to Phoebe is the youngest of the family. In most ways I can TOTALLY relate to her and Prue. But in the youngest of the family thing I can just connect more to her thoughts and feelings. And she is a bit of a free spirit. Which I tended to be like when I was younger
Adri: What would you like to change on the show, either add or subtract, to make it more interesting?
Di: think like most people I would have tried to make the Shannen thing work. but as it didn’t. I think I would have made Paige’s character older then Prue. the way they handled that was .. well bad in general. The only other thing I would have changed would be the Phoebe/Cole thing. As much as I like Phoebe and even Alyssa. I think the Cole character held her back. It took away the Phoebe that most people liked. Her free spirit was lost..
Adri: Do you want Cole and Phoebe to remain together? What is the reason for your answer?
Di: NO. Like I said before. I think he has taken away from the Phoebe in the first and second season. They have over done that story line. Kinda like that song on the radio they just keep playing and playing.
Adri: Do you feel that there could have been a solution to the S3 problem other then one person leaving?
Di: There is always a solution if you look deep enough. But sometimes it is hard to find the one that everyone is happy with. It's to bad it did come down to one of them leaving. But unfortunately there are some things that happen that you just can't fix. And when you have two people that are strong willed or in the case of Hollywood, one who draws a bigger crowd it comes down to $$. Which is too bad because the only ones that suffer are the fans that put them there in the first place
Adri: Paige. Yeah or nay, and why?
Di: Lol. Well at first my judgment was out for a LONG time. I can't even remember when I set my mind. or if it even is. When you replace a actress like they did Shannen sometimes it is hard for fans of a show to relate to the replacement no matter what. But I think half way through season four she was growing on me, and even more so this season. So at first she was nay, but I think that was because I felt she should have been made the oldest, but now. I think she fits in the family.. But she is more of a middle sister. thats just as I see her. So now I would say yay
Adri: Season 4 was kind of awkward, rebuilding the dynamics of the show, has season 5 shown any improvement as far as you are concerned?
Di: I think Season five has gone back to the basics of what the show was about in the first place, three sisters who just happen to be witches. They all have their personal problems. yet they are kicking demon butt at the same time. that was what the show was suppose to be about. I just wonder if Holly and Alyssa being Producers now have a hand in that
Adri: Now for a few fic related questions. What made you start writing in the fist place?
Di: You know I have absolutely no idea. I used to read the stories at CFS years ago now it seems. And then one year I decided hey. why not give it a try? in fact I believe it was 2000. and I even made a comment. new millennium new me.. and I stepped out and started writing. See that is where the shy me comes in. I wasn’t sure how people would feel about what I wrote. I just thought I would try it and, no other real reason. think inside I thought. can you do it? and I think it was a personal challenge. the only down side with a personal challenge.. is once I make up my mind to do something.....look out.
Adri: What story has been the most challenging for you in terms of writing?
Di: Ok you do realize that I have done like 75 stories. well almost. the current is 75. but you know of all of them I think I have two maybe three, one being one I did with Piper not that long ago. I find Piper hard to write for some reason. but the other two are probably the hardest for me. 'The Accident' and the short 'One year later.' When I wrote the Accident it started out as just another story about Phoebe. Though Phoebe was playing a part in my life at the time, but as I was coming to the end one of the people that was in the story was tragically killed in a plane crash. He was one of my best friends. A year later I did a follow up on how I felt. For me that was hard to write. It brought with it a lot of tears and heart ache. It wasn’t like the writing was hard for me.. it was the emotions that went with it.
Adri: When you write, do you have your stories worked out, or just a general idea?
Di: Depends. Most times its a general idea, but every now and then I get one that I have the whole thing in my head. But those are rare and are mostly like ‘The Accident’ where its something I don’t have to really think about its just is, and even when I have a general idea, I end up changing my mind
Adri: Where do you get your ideas?
Di: Well of late from my big sis and lil cUz due to bets lost in football games north and south of the border. hehe though this year when I wanted the ideas I kept winning. Other then that I'm not really sure. Songs I have used a few tines but most of stories come from my muse I guess. When I get stuck for an idea I post a help on BOS and usually someone out there can help me out. Though lately I think my muse went on vacation.. or I left her in Vegas.. one of the two
Adri: What draws you to a story? What turns you off from one?
Di: Well a story that is a short little part. Other then that ones that are set in the future and they start listing off all the offspring. Its too hard to keep track of who’s who. I like the stories that have the sister interaction and demons fighting, and of course around Phoebe
Adri: What advice can you give to other writers?
Di: Hmm not really sure. Write from your heart would probably be the best. and write for you. Don’t worry about responses that you get or don’t. Write because you enjoy it and you want to. Heck if I stopped because I never got responses.. then I wouldn’t have 75 stories
Adri: I want to thank you for joining me today. Even thought I could have answered these questions for you, I’m glad we got it right from the Canucks mouth, so to speak.
Di: Thanks for having, me. and hey big sis. Can I crash on your couch.. looks like the fog socked me in here. Hey it can be just like the spring. hehe only this time you know I’m staying.
Well, that’s it for today. Do to the holiday next week, and that I will be suffering from both food and football overload, there will be no show. But tune in in two weeks as we get up close and kind of personal with someone
