Better To Have Known And Lost Or To Never Have Known At All?

Paige entered the Manor after a long hard day at work. There was a new case in and it was all Paige's. A lot of stress and responsibility but it's what she had been looking for. It was all along the road to becoming a full time social worker.

As she put her Jacket on the coat hook and headed on through to the kitchen, she passed the most memory holding picture, even to her. It was one of her three sister's.

She only really looked at one person in that Picture though. Prue. Her magickal big sister. The one she never got to even meet. It still hurt her every day, but, her remaining two sisters didn't know that. They only figured as she had never known Prue she could never hurt for her. Not like they could. How wrong they were.

Paige was sure she could feel it all. This felt just as bad as when she lost her parents. She had almost turned to alcohol again but she knew she couldn't and she could feel she had some other worldly help.

Paige went to the fridge, getting a bottle of water out and sitting at the table. She sat starring at its content's, oblivious to Phoebe entering the room.

"Hey Paige." Phoebe said sitting across from her.

After no answer Phoebe tried again with a little more force in her voice. Still nothing. Phoebe waved a hand in front of her "hey, space cadet?"

Paige slowly came out of it, "huh? wha? Phoebe what is it?" Paige asked more aware of her surroundings.

Phoebe looked with concerned eyes. "Paige you were really spaced out. Are you ok?" She stretched out her hand touching Paige's.

Paige tried to smile for her sister's benefit, "yeah, sorry. Just had a tuff case today."

'It wasn't a complete lie.' She thought to herself. Phoebe's face wrinkled in concern, "well you know I’m if you need to talk." Phoebe said as she squeezed Paige's hand.

Paige smiled and nodded, "I know, I’m just going to get changed." With that Paige got up and walked up to her room. Phoebe just shrugged it off thinking nothing more of it.

When Paige got to her room, she quickly locked the door. Her eyes met a picture of beauty as she walked in. Paige walked forward picking up the picture frame that held her big sister.

Tears sprang to her eyes, the pain she felt, the loss she felt was immense. Everytime she thought about Prue she could feel her soul tearing.

She didn't like being comparred to Prue because she knew she didn't deserve to be. Prue was a good person who sacrificed so much, Paige wasn't in her own eyes. The fact she looked the most like Prue made it worse. She felt like everytime Piper or Phoebe looked at her they'd see Prue not her.

She curled up on the bed crying for the love that was for Prue not her.

Piper had come home from a nice lunch with Leo, but as per usual he was called away. She was going to her room when she could here crying from Paige's room.

Piper instinctively went, "what's wrong, Prue?"

Paige couldn't believe her ears she violently turned round tear's freely falling down her face, "I'M NOT PRUE!" She ran passed Piper and then ran straight out of the manor.

Phoebe was shocked as she saw Paige run from the house, she looked more upset than Phoebe had ever seen. Phoebe quickly went upstairs to find Piper.

Phoebe entered Paige's room to see Piper sitting on the edge of Paige's bed. Piper had tears forming as she held two piece's of paper in her shaking hands.

"Piper what happend?" Phoebe asked concerned. Piper just signalled for Phoebe to come and sit next to her, which she did. Piper passed one of the Paper's to Phoebe who took it and with-in seconds also had tears threatening to spill. "oh god." was all Phoebe could manage.

"I accidently called her Prue, all I saw was the black hair and it came out. I didn't mean it Pheebs." The paper Phoebe held was more eye opening than Piper and Phoebe could have imagined.

I know I've never seen you
I know I've never spoke to you
I swear I've always felt you
I have always felt that bond with you
I no you were watching me
Watching me when I needed it most
Nobody else saw my soul was being destroyed
You weren't anybody else though
You kept me safe from harm
You kept me safe from myself
I no you have gave me the belief I have now
So thank you
From the bottom of my heart...
I'll see sometime
I'll finally know you
One eternal day..

The poem lay in the centre of the paper beautifully written in Paige's hand writing. The thing that shocked them was under it.

You look at me
I no who you see
but I am not who you see at all

Piper and Phoebe then realised what they had been doing to their little sister.

"I called her Prue. I've just proved to her that we think of her as Prue."

Phoebe nodded, "how do we fix this?"

Piper sighed. "I don’t know. I think we need to let her grieve and be there for her. I didn't realise she was hurting like this." Piper put her head in her heads, "I mean look at this picture she drew, I've never seen anyone capture Prue like that, her love, her comfort, her protectiveness it’s all there!"

Phoebe held the picture and she could really see Prue. "We have to go make this right, where would she go?" Phoebe asked with determination.

"I think I know where she's gone. Come on" Piper took Phoebe's hand gripping it tightly as she lead her out of the manor and to the car.

Paige sat hugging her knee’s against the cold evening air. She looked at the emotionless stone in front of her.

“Why can’t you be here? Why didn’t they burry me instead? Everyone would be happy that way.” Paige said quietly to the only thing that could be classed as physical contact with her eldest sister.

“I wouldn’t be happy.”

Paige froze at the sound of someone else’s voice. She looked up to stare into the ice blue eyes of her big sister. She opened her mouth to say something but she couldn’t.

Prue offered a smile as she sat next to her and slowly putting her arm around Paige. Paige didn’t know what to do she tensed up at Prue’s touch.

“How are you here?” Paige asked still not moving.

“I was told my baby sister needed some help that only I could give.”

Paige gave in as she started sobbing clinging on to Prue.

Prue was glad she could hold her baby sister, she had waited long enough. She held Paige close comforting her. “It’s ok, we’ll fix this honey.” Prue kissed the top of Paige’s head,

“b-but how? T-they don’t e-e-even know me. T-they think they’re the only one’s m-missing you.” Paige said trying to stop crying.

“They will get to know you. They haven’t realised that you can still be hurt even if you didn’t know someone. But they will and they will love you for who you are. You're our baby sister but they have been hurt by my death and they have to deal which you have helped with. Now it’s your turn to deal, and Piper and Phoebe will be there every step of the way.....so will I. I’ve watched you every day since I found out about you. ‘They’ also let me see your past. You’re very brave and very strong to have gotten through what you have. I am so proud of you and I always will be. Paige?”

Paige looked up into Prue’s eyes. “I love you.”

She could feel her eyes sting with tears again, “I love you too.” Prue hugged Paige again.

“I have to go now, sweetie.” Paige nodded as she sniffed. “I’m always with you, just look in your heart.” Prue kissed Paige’s head again before disappearing in a swear of golden lights.

Paige once again gave in to her tears, but she felt a little better about things. The next thing Paige felt was someone’s arm’s around her, she thought Prue was back, “Prue?” She said barely above a whisper.

Piper gave Phoebe a look, “no honey its me and Pheebs.”

Paige quickly tried to stop crying, “I’m sorry I, I shouted at you” Paige said to Piper.
“No I’m sorry, its my fault. I never accepted you for who you really are. And I am truly sorry I didn’t realise that you had to deal with losing your big sister too.”

Paige nodded trying to swallow the lump in her throat. Phoebe rubbed Paige’s back, “I’m sorry too. This is as much my fault as Piper’s.” Phoebe said solemnly.

“Think we can start over?” Paige asked her two big sister’s. “I think so.” Piper and Phoebe agreed.

“Come on let’s get you home its cold out here.” Piper said as she helped Paige up.

Paige looked out in the darkness and she knew Prue was there.
